Aimee,
I'm very sorry your grandpa is in the hospital. It is always hard to quit when going thru difficult events in our lives.
I've been checking this tread often since I
was a smoker (stopped last september) and going strong.
I stopped with the patch, basically I needed somewhat of a strong incentive to not smoke while quitting, for me the little phrase in the patch booklet that says if you smoke while having the patch or whitin 2 hours of removing it you could have an overdose was enough for me. I never cheated.
I did the patch (step 1) for 6 weeks I felt good enough at that point and decided not to continue with the other steps however someone at work is quitting right now and they didn't feel ready so they are continuing onto step 2.
At first on the patch I thought it didn't work, I still had the cravings and of course the habit was hard to break buuuttt let me tell you, one day in my first week I was in a rush to get to work and I forgot to put on a patch....weeeellllll that was the worst day of my life:D I was such a b#$% with everyone it is a wonder I didn't get fired. I didn't want to cheat because it was my own stupid fault for forgetting. I went and bought those huge bubble gums and was blowing bubbles and chewing all day. No one said anything...I think they were too scared of me
Lets just say after that, I kept a spare patch in my drawer at work just in case
:D
