Arabella had a recheck. The news wasn't great. On the plus side her irregular beats did drop a little, but the number of tachycardia increased a little. Meaning her heart is stopping for 2-3 seconds more often.
She is at her max dosage for sota
so the next step would be to add Mexilitine, but since she isn't showing any symptoms, aka not collapsing, the cardiologist isn't ready to add that yet. We have another Holter in 6 months.
On another note that is somewhat related, we have an RV and like to take trips. In one of the RV groups I belong to, someone said a friend's Boston Terrier had passed away from altitude sickness. When they got to the vet, they were told people should watch over their shortnosed breeds carefully because they are more susceptible to it. I asked the cardiologist about it. He said that a healthy dog should be ok as long as you take things slow and let them adapt to the altitude, however a dog with health issues, especially heart issues, it can become a life threatening situation. And by altitude I mean mountains like the Rockies, and not those on the east coast. We had originally planned a trip to the Rockies earlier this year, but a couple of things came up canceling it. When I learned about this, I was glad it was cancelled.
