Completely Boxer Crazy
Well we went for our 7pm. visit and by 7:45 when they still hadn't taken us back we were very worried. They said that at 6:30 Josi was up and alert and doing well and acted like she wanted to take a bowel movement so they took her outside. They she was straining pretty hard and nothing came out and then she started to vomit so they brought her back inside and she began to get agitated and was crying in pain. They doped her up with morphine, lidocaine, and then the horror word ace. When they brought us back she was out like a light snoring, but I still think she knows we were there rubbing her belly and whispering sweet nothings in her ear. Her heart rate was elevated, but they think that was due to her pain. I not only questioned the nurse why in the heck would the doctor prescribe ace for not only a boxer, but a cariomyopic boxer, but she stated that it was in a very small dose and that is what the dr. wanted. They called the doctor while we were back in ICU so I could speak with him and he said that he was really at a loss for why Josi had taken such a sudden turn for the worse. I once again questioned why he would prescribe her ace and he just said that is what she needed and the small dose would not affect her. I am not sure that I believe that, but at this point there is nothing I can do, but trust these specialists to give Josi the best chance possible. I am obviously devasted tonight since all I have heard all day was what a christmas miracle she is. They said they would continue to give supportive care through the evening to keep her out of pain and the doctors would re-evaluate her condition in the morning. Please keep her in your thoughts and prayers this evening and give her the strength to fight to come home...
