Well we went for our 7pm. visit and by 7:45 when they still hadn't taken us back we were very worried. They said that at 6:30 Josi was up and alert and doing well and acted like she wanted to take a bowel movement so they took her outside. They she was straining pretty hard and nothing came out and then she started to vomit so they brought her back inside and she began to get agitated and was crying in pain. They doped her up with morphine, lidocaine, and then the horror word ace. When they brought us back she was out like a light snoring, but I still think she knows we were there rubbing her belly and whispering sweet nothings in her ear. Her heart rate was elevated, but they think that was due to her pain. I not only questioned the nurse why in the heck would the doctor prescribe ace for not only a boxer, but a cariomyopic boxer, but she stated that it was in a very small dose and that is what the dr. wanted. They called the doctor while we were back in ICU so I could speak with him and he said that he was really at a loss for why Josi had taken such a sudden turn for the worse. I once again questioned why he would prescribe her ace and he just said that is what she needed and the small dose would not affect her. I am not sure that I believe that, but at this point there is nothing I can do, but trust these specialists to give Josi the best chance possible. I am obviously devasted tonight since all I have heard all day was what a christmas miracle she is. They said they would continue to give supportive care through the evening to keep her out of pain and the doctors would re-evaluate her condition in the morning. Please keep her in your thoughts and prayers this evening and give her the strength to fight to come home...

I am so sorry your visit didn't turn out as well as you (and all of us here) had hoped. She has been through alot in the past few days, so maybe she just needs a bit more time to make a full come back. I will continue to keep your family and Josi in my thoughts and prayers. Hugs.

I just spoke with the ICU nurse to again relay my concerns about ACE. She said Josi was still sedated, but actually awake and laying on her belly...an improvement from when we saw her on her side knocked out. She said she is comfortable and her blood pressure is stable and has not had to give her anymore lidocaine CRM, whatever that does. She said she has no more orders for pain meds tonight so if she needs more she will have to call the doctor. She also so "kindly" reminded me that she does not take orders from me, but from the doctor so I "kindly" told her that if she has to call him tonight for more sedatives to please tell him no ace. She again said it was a very small dose and only that calmed her down, not even the morophine. So I'm at a lose because I know she is in the best hands, but I will remind the surgeon tomorrow strongly of my stance. I really can't think about it anymore tonight I am so emotionally drained and my number one thing is stay strong to help Josi fight another battle:) I will post again when I hear something in the morning..
All your loving posts have been a tremendous help for me and I can't thank you all enough from the bottom of my heart.
Love Josi's mom- Staci

I just saw the post and want you to know that Josi will be in my thoughts and prayers tonight. I can't imagine how scared you must have been, and still are. She sounds like a fighter, though. I'll check back tomorrow for an update. Until then, try to get some rest - your girl needs you to be strong.

Bless your heart for taking the time and effort to keep us posted on Josi - your little girl is in the hearts and on the minds of many here. I can't even imagine how hard all of this is for you. Just remember we are with you and Josi sending out thoughts, vibes, and prayers of healing, hope and recovery. Your Josi is a very lucky Boxer girl to be so loved by you.

Glad to hear she is getting better. I believe the setback is just a minor one and she will be ok. I too would be worried about the ACE, especially since there are other options. I guess the good thing though, if she does have complications from it, she will be at a place where she can get help.

I will be sure to say another prayed again tonight. The man upstairs and my Tossie will keep an eye on her and be with her throughout her recovery. Get some rest and keep your chin up.

I know that the specialists are doing their best for Josi, so hang in there. Also, they need to remember who is paying the bill, so when you have a firm belief of no Ace, they need to adhere to that unless no other option is available. ;)
