Ok, very cool how you did the arches. Using rebar makes sense and the braces as well. I will have to see if I can talk my husband into doing something like that, a neighbor who lives on the corner has 3 arches on each edge of his house, going over the sidewalk, it really looks lovely and makes you want to walk under them.

Tina, AWESOME!!!! We moved to our new house(stuffy neighborhood) last year and only 3 houses had lights last year. Of course we had the most, but this year we've had some family issues that have consumed our time, so we decided to not put any lights up. Well, don't you know that three neighbors around us put up lights this year, and here we are in the dark:LOL:. Next year we have plans for the lights and hopefully nothing happens to any family members to keep us from putting them up. The neighbors won't know what the hell to do:LOL: Yeh, yeh, we like to kind of go against the grain. Anyhow, your lights are awesome, and I would be proud to be your Christmas spirit neighbor!

Lovely light display!! I love it when people go all out. I would show you our lights, but my camera is having issues downloading to the computer right now. :(

Here is a link to my grandpa's site.

www.oaklawnacres.com

He is pushing 80 years old and has had a light display for the last 20+ years. He works on lights all year long, with the summer months spent repairing. He starts putting up the lights in October after all the crops are harvested. The first 2 weekends in November, friends and family show up to help. That's where I spend my first 2 weekends! Then he starts taking them down New Year's Day.

He also has a small building that he pulls out...Santa's house. My grandma passed 10 years ago from breast cancer. Until she died, they dressed as Santa and Mrs. Claus. She sat in Santa's house, waving and handing out candy canes. He still dresses as Santa every night, greeting each car. Sometimes on weekends, 500 cars go through. He also has a tour bus go through every weekend.

Every year, a local radio station holds an auction with the highest bidder flipping the switch Thanksgiving night. One year the bid went to $1200! He donates all money to the local Boy's & Girl's Club. When my kids were little, they would take turns going out to turn on the lights. The look on their faces when they realized that they had made everything light up was amazing!

So take a look at his sight. The pictures don't do it justice. My grandpa is the sweetest guy. Santa's spirit lives in him all year!

what a wonderful display of lights... looks like a ton of work, and I think I can understand HOW MUCH WORK... what a lovely way to bring the spirit to kids by decorating and watching their faces when they see it light up... Your grandpa does a lovely job...

We have a neighbor boy around the corner from us, and every year since we started doing our Spongebob theme, he comes and looks and surprisingly he knows exactly what pieces are new that we've added for the new season... Every year we add something, so he's got a sharp eye... children can amaze you at the drop of a dime...

Merry Christmas everyone...!!
