Jeff, like many others, I very rarely come in here. I know your pain as we went through something very similar with my Sam who I lost to cancer at the age of three five years ago. Your posts have conjured up a lot of memories both good and bad and I have shed quite a few tears reading through all this. Though Orson is not be in your physical world any more, he will live on forever in your heart and mind. I just wanted to say I am so sorry for your loss.

The website sounds like a great idea and wonderful memorial tribute to Orson! Haven't seen pics in the gallery yet...but I can see him in your avatar...he appears to be a sweet looking boy. I'll check back in the gallery later on.

Hi Jeff, I can't wait to see pictures of sweet Orson. They haven't uploaded just yet but from the looks of your avatar, he looked like such a sweetheart. My heart melted seeing that big smile on his face. And the website idea is a wonderful idea, a great tribute to him.

I continue to keep you in my thoughts, and it warms my heart thinking of Orson and the impact he's had on all of us here on BW. He is now in a better place, more than likely running around like a young pup again. He'll wait for you and will save all his wet kisses for when you meet again :)

Pictures/ashes

I uploaded some pictures to the members section, but they haven't come online yet.
I might try again if nothing by Friday.

I haven't picked up Orson's ashes yet, and have actually gotten into the car to drive there, only to come home again without them, I haven't been able to bring myself to get them.
I must do it tomorrow! I am going to make myslef.

I have 2 disposable cameras with pictures, that I used to document his illness, but again, I haven't taken them for development.

Is this normal?
The depression about this is just terrible, and I need to get these things done, but haven't.

The website I am making is going to be great, and it's going to be more about everyone else who seeks information, and support.
I don't want it to be about me me me, but I do want it to be about Orson, and his illness.

Thanks again!
Jeff

Completely Boxer Crazy
Like so many others, I avoid this section sometimes, but I just read through this entire thread, and through tears I want to say how sorry I am for your loss.

Orson was so lucky to have you and he will always be with you. He would want you to be happy in his memory!! What wonderful things you have written about him, I am sure he was a VERY special boy!

Orson...send a sign to daddy when you're done enjoying the steak tree, and tell him it's okay, you'll be there waiting for him!

Ashes, The Final step...

My mom picked up Orson's ashes for me today.
For some reason I was unable to get them myself, so she finally decided it was long enough and went for me.

I kept putting it off, and putting it off...
In my mind, I thought as long as I don't have the ashes, than maybe he wasn't gone, maybe when I go, he will be there waiting for me...I knew that I was being crazy, but the reality of getting the ashes was too hard to bare.

When I did get them, I instantly cried, maybe harder than ever, I know in this small box is what's left of my baby, and the history we shared, and the life he lived was now broken down into elements that are in the form of ashes.
Where did he go?
Will he know I am thinking about him?
Will he wait for me until the day I go to find him?

I had hoped the pain would fade, but it really hasn't.
It seems so much worse the longer they are gone, because we know they are not coming back to us.

It may seem odd that someone would be so devestated about a dog, but he was the greatest thing that ever happened to my life, and I found unconditional love with him.
I come home now, and he isn't waiting for me...He isn't looking out the door when I leave for work, he doesn't hug me, or snuggle next to me at night, he doesn't rest his chin on my lap.

The one thing I will miss more than anything was when he would look at me, and he would just stare at me...he wouldn't stop for long periods of time, I don't think he was looking at me, I think he was looking inside of me.

I know I will be fine, I know in the end all of this will makes sense, I know, I know, I know.

I read about others who have lost their loved ones, and I feel their pain very deeply.
I know what they are going through, and I know how intense the feelings can be.
I want to comfort people, but I know that when people tried to comfort me, it didn't help much.
When you feel so lost, and hurt, nothing makes you feel better.

Thanks for reading
Jeff
