one more thought
Jeff,
This may or may not help, but I work as a vet tech and have been with all too many people and their beloved pets when they had to put them to sleep. I have cried with them, held them and stayed with many a dog or cat long after the owners had left the rooms.. I leave a job where when people ask you, how was your day, I would simply say it was ok..... but I do know the affect this has....to have to make that decision.. I had to make it myself for my boxer. It's devastating.... but I have also talked with those same people days, weeks, months after that awful moment and they do say they still feel that beloved dog or cat around them...they never really leave us but urge us to go on without them.. there is a reason you are here and Orson was taken..~ and those people say they can at times hear that bark, feel that familiar brush against the leg, even catch their pets scent... what I am trying to say is Orson will never leave you... you both are imbedded in each other... and you both will meet again in a wonderful way as I will be reunited with my boxer. Heaven is made up of love and memories, so how could our dogs not be there? They are..... Not to be over dramatic but many times I have looked into the night sky and talked to my boxers and in the still of all that starlit sky, I feel them out there. and boy oh boy do I cry..they left our homes but never our hearts and now they are grander then we could ever imagine....they worry over us now.... we no longer have to worry over them... Orson doesnt want to see you so distraught....but talk to him....really talk to him.....he hears you....then when you can, maybe.. just maybe hear Orson whisper to you.....hey dad, pass on that great love....give it to another pet.. it may be months or years from now.... you will never ever replace him...thats impossible....but remember there's another one out there saying.....hey, can you try to love me too? Just a thought Jeff.....but remember.... that love for Orson is and was a once in a lifetime thing..... we all here understand that. We have that same love for our dogs.... you seem like a helluva guy with a great heart.... just hang in there.. and remember Orson loves you just as you love him..... ~ with most sincere thoughts..
