I am so sorry to hear about Doc, and will pray for you to have the strength to get you through this difficult Has your vet suggested treating him pallliatively with medication to make him more comfortable? I have left side heart failure and cardiomyopathy and I know that meds have made the world of difference for me. Take care, and do keep us posted ~ Cathy

Sorry to hear about Doc: Sending you some ((Hugs))to help you get through this difficult time. do what you feel in your heart is the right thing to do. We had to help our boy Riley to the bridge this Jan and it was very hard, he was only 3, but because he was suffering and in pain, I knew in our heart that was our only choice to help him to the bridge to end his suffering.. that was our gift to him. But since Doc doesn't seem to be in any pain, then you don't have to face that hard putting him to sleep decison, you can spend time holding him and letting him know how much you love him. although I'm sure he already knows. Keeping you in our thoughts and prayers ~ Vickie

i am so sorry to hear about doc, and hope that he is doing ok. i know about BCM as well, as we lost our peanut to this on 2-15 of this year at age 6. i know it is and the questioning of "when do i know that it is time?" "when do i know that they are suffering?" but as i was told prior to letting peanut go "you just know" and its true. We did know, We never thought we would lose her so young, or that we would have to make that decision. but when the time comes you will probably know its time to let him go and i hope that he is comfie and snuggling with you now. it sounds like he has led a wonderful life and been surrounded by your love. just continue to provide that as you obviously will, and know that by doing so you are doing all that you can. he will let you know when he is ready. you will in your heart know.

our peanut declined rapidly, even though we saw it happen over months, the last few days were pretty clear and fast. she had very labored breathing and she did begin to swell quite a bit, and on her last night with us, her feet and legs swelled (that is what prompted us to take her in the next day). it had become painfully obvious that it was time, but you have to believe that you are doing what is right for them when that time comes, even though saying goodbye is the very last thing we humans are ready to do.

i will send my heart and energy your way tonight as i fall asleep and send my love to our dear peanut....i will be doing the same for your sweet doc here on earth.

Please know my thoughts are with you during this time. It is so hard to watch our best friend go through the things that their body is going through; it is so painful to see. I watched my girl Magic suffer and go through many difficulties with her illness. I know how hard it is and my heart aches for you and your Doc. If only they could talk to us and tell us how they feel.
