My two cents: I think for the one time we should
get together and see how big of a group and how
serious everyone is as far as meeting. I am OK with paying $15.00
one time but I know that buying a permit for us will not work because we would not go to Naperville often enough. As in previous emails, I agree with the suggestion to take turns meeting in different parks to be fair to the ones that have to drive farther.
Just let us know when and where!

This permit covers 7 dog parks in Dupage County. 2 in Naperville, 1 in Warrenville, 1 in Glendale Heights, 1 in Hanover Park, 1 in Oakbrook, and 1 in Wayne (As their website states). These are kind of spread apart so the Boxer Bashes will not always be in Naperville (unless we all decided that was the best place to meet in Dupage). In one of my previous posts I suggested that we can all meet once a month at different parks. If you choose to purchase a permit, thats great. I know purchasing a permit is obviously money out of our pockets but this is an opportunity to let our dogs have fun and play with other Boxers. We go to the parks at least every other day and so far I have yet to see a boxer. Obviously I wouldn't advise to buy a permit if you aren't serious about meeting once a month at minimum and if you only plan on meeting this once because that would be a waste of money. I hope we get a decent turn out and if we don't, well at least we tried.
When: Well so far I've seen more requests for the 17th (but we'll be there the 18th also in case someone can't make the 17th.)
Time: 10 a.m. (This way it's not too hot for them)
Where: Greene Valley Forest Preserve (Location is on the website-This one is completley fenced in and has fresh water for the dogs)

Anyone have some type of a scheduling conflict and wants to adjust something with timing or date- Just let us know. ;)

Hey Jen,

I just wanted to apologize for complaining about the permits! I didn't intend to throw a wrench in the works but I was re-reading my posts and I sound like a big baby, lol. Thanks for trying to put this whole thing together.

Chula's Moms,

Thanks for the info on the Montrose beach and park. If we can ever make it up there, hopefully our girls can play.

Get out of here! You know what, I actually had a few smiley faces in my previous post but when my boyfriend read it he made fun of me. He says I "Over do" the smilies...Yeah, I probably do... I'd much rather come off as the way I'm saying it then sounding like a jerk!

Overall I think that if we all met up a minimum of once a month in one of the seven parks, the permit might not be so bad (still sucks though!) I wouldn't mind going to Chicago's park either.

:) :) :p wormicon <----- That's for my boyfriend who makes fun of all my posts!

Well I don't care about the permit, I'm just going to buy the yearly one because I know we'll be going to either the Oakbrook or Naperville park atleast once a week, so I'm definitely in for the bash! :D
I'll try and show up Saturday the 17th but if I can't get the time off work, then I'll be there the next day. Of course I don't have my Boxer yet lol. I just called the breeder today, first litter was all brindles but he happened to plan out 2 litters at the same time this year, so there is still some hope for a fawn tomorrow. If not, we're probably just gonna go with a brindle - we won't love him any less! And we're tired of waiting! frogicon
So anyway, from mid August onwards we will have our puppy and we'll be able to attend all the future meetings with him. I did want to ask though - is it ok to take him to an off leash park right away at 8 weeks? Just want to make sure!

I'll give you all an update in the next day or 2, once we've spoken to the breeder and everything. :)

I'll be there with Buford - defintely on the 18th, probably on the 17th too! He is a 5mo old fawn male. I'm also going to let one of my co-workers know - he owns Buford sister, Maisy, also 5mo's, (duh!) We'll be there! I'm excited to meet other boxer owners!

Val-

I was just going to point out that the dog park near us has a rule that says puppies must be at least 4 months old. I don't know how others feel, but I would probably wait a while with your little guy. At the very least, you'll want to make sure he's up to date on all of his shots. Have you looked into Puppy School? That might be a better option for early socialization.

Just a thought.

Final answer?

I'm sorry But I had problems following along. "Where" is the final answer? Date was 17th and 18th, time was 10:00. But where? Can we do a poll for dates and locations? I'm so confused.LOL

We have a few friends with dogs, (all at least a year older than Buford, and MUCH larger) and we all get together at least once a week, so he's very comfortable with larger and older dogs. One of them is a Dane/Lab mix, over 120 lbs, and they get along like best buds! There are usually about six or seven total and he does very well with all of them, so I'm comfortable with bringing him. I'm not sure about his sister though, Buford is about 45 lbs, and really solid, but Maisy was the runt and she's only about 25 lbs! I'm not sure how well she'd do with larger dogs, so I'll mention that to her owner.

Kirby's mom, does that help? I confused myself a couple of times also.
I'm so glad we have a lot going so far! This is going to be great! I can't wait to see all of your boxers! ;)
