Sharon...I was going to check in today and ask how your daughter was getting along. I see in another post that she is scheduled to have tubes put in her ears soon. I wish you all the best with that. My son had that procedure when he was 2 yrs old and it worked out wonderfully for him. The reason you had been on my mind for the last couple of days is that I found out Tuesday that my daughter who is 8 is completely deaf in her right ear. We are scheduled for some further testing at the children's hospital on the 24th. When she was an infant she had severe menengitis due to kidney dysfunction. That is the only thing we can imagine must have happened. She has probably been this way her whole life and we didn't even know it. She wouldn't even know to complain because that's all she's known. NOw that I think about it, it would explain why she is so loud when she talks, plays, sings, etc. There are times DH & I thought she wasn't hearing us but we chalked it up to stubborn kids & their selective hearing, ya know? I just wondered if your daughter had been getting along okay. Geez I don't know whether we need to change the way we do things with her, I don't know if they'll want to try & correct it, if it's even fixable. I feel like you did, with all sorts of questions.
