As you know, we already had Duke before Cody got sick. At first, I was upset because why would I ever want to go through losing another baby? But now, it is awesome coming home and seeing Duke. Don't get me wrong, I still cry because I miss Cody and love him...But I don't think Magic or Cody would be upset. They want us to be happy.

I know my situation is a little different than yours, but I am glad that we have Duke. Let me know what you decide. You will make the right decision.

Adopt him!!! Male boxers are wonderful, and they become quite the mommy's boys!! You won't regret it! He needs a home, you need a boxer. You aren't being disloyal to Magic--in fact, maybe this boxer is coming into your life to help you heal!! He will create a new place in your heart, and will not push out the love you had for Magic!

hi

Hi Julie:
Wow! I'm excited for you, yes adopt him. I did my first volunteer day at Boxer Rescue LA today and I thought because I was so close to Taz I wanted a boy. Every dog I was ready to take home today (besides all of them) were girls. A Boxer is a Boxer. I agree boys become Mommy's baby.

Good for you for thinking of Rescue first there are so many waiting to love you. Good Luck keep us informed. I'm taking my husband to Boxer Rescue and letting him pick our new baby next week. Who are you looking at at Boxer Rescue up there I wanna go see his picture?
Well put LJNASH said it best. Tazzy will always be my soulmate Boxer.

Thanks for your input every one...! I agree, boxer rescues are a excellent place to begin the process of looking for a companion. My first experience at a boxer rescues has been a real eye opener.

The male boxer's name is Deeg. Like I mentioned he is in San Jose. I got a call from the rescue they said that a lot of people were coming to look at him. I told them if they found someone for him that was not as "wishie washie" as I am, to go ahead and give him his "forever home". I was told that he would be a handful for a couple of years as he is super smart and may need to be entertained with educational toys and such. I guess this may be why he is at the rescue..he is smart!

I wish I would have met him in another month or so; when my mind is clearer. Right now, I think I am afraid to open my heart again.

Missing my baby,
Julie and Magic

I guess it just wasn't meant to be this time! But, when you are ready, you won't have such a difficult time making the decision. Only you will know when that is. (((HUGS))))

Hi Julie:
I went online he is a cutie. Some of the Boxers from Los Angeles go up there and vice versa we help each other. I know how you feel. As a volunteer at Boxer Rescue LA I get the luxury of taking any of the over 100 boxers home for sleepovers and see which one fits with the family and I'm hoping Tazzy will give me a sign which one was meant to come home and stay. I am looking forward to all the sleepovers so many different babies with different personalities.

My husband wants a puppy but after seeing there are 135+ beautiful young Boxers at the Rescue no way there are so many to choose from. I wish you lived closer so we could volunteer together.

I still cry alot if not more lately for my Tazzy yesterday was only three weeks and it seems like I haven't seen him for three years. I get scared about getting another dog because my Tazzy was so perfect for me in everyway. It does help seeing these scared, confused babies and I get to love them 4 days a week.

You will know when it's right, one of the ladies on BW I think mentioned she was just going out to finally look after 5 months. I think I'm giving in sooner because my husband needs a Boxer in the house he functions better with a full family and a dog is key for him, he misses Tazzy so much.

Who knows when you feel your heart open maybe you can take a little bit longer trip and come to Boxer Rescue LA and we can find your new baby together.

Fond Regards Leilani

I read through this entire thread on my lunch break today and I am so touched by the beautiful tribute to your baby. I'm so glad that you were lucky enough to find Magic and it sure sounds like Magic was very lucky to find such a wonderful, loving home. I'm crying for you, as so many others are, and wish there was something that could be said to help you. All I can say is that I truly care and hope that the wonderful memories you have of such a special lady will bring you some comfort. I love the way you speak of her and can just picture her acting like such a lady. I hope that time helps heal your pain and that you do give that love to another baby some day. My very best to you and your family. Karen

I havnt been on here much lately and I usually dont come to this area to read because I get so sad. But for some reason today I did and im glad. You now i felt exactly the way you do when i lost Chance my 4 year old brendle boy. I went thru a terrible divorce and all i had was Chance. He became my will to live. I remember the morning i lost him like it was yesterday. He left me alone. He never runs off when we go outside but he did. I followed him fussing all the way. I turned a corner and there he was..lying as if he were asleep. I ran over and a man standing nearby said he saw him come running round the corner and he just stopped and laid down. He said he thought he was sleeping. He wasnt. I lost him then and there. We think it was his heart but i didnt want an autopsy as they said I couldnt have his body back afterwards. I grieved and i still grieve. I didnt want another dog no way no how..Chance was the love of my life. Or so I thought. Several months later I had the chance to go look at some white boxer pups. I was curious nothing more having never seen a white one. 6 bouncing bundles of boxer..*smiles* I held a few and thought how sweet but felt nothing but a loss and even guilt for enjoying their antics. I was leaving without a pup of course. I got to the gate and felt something step lightly on my foot. I looked down into the saddest pair of brown eyes you ever saw and something else..determination. This lil pup wasnt going to let me leave without giving him a chance to convince me I did want a new baby. I had to pick him up and well...the rest is history..he went home sleeping in my lap and he has never cried the first time for his litter mates or mom. He chose me right there. I dont regret it and I love him in a totally different way then I did my Chance. I might even feel some guilt for this but I think I love him more. He pulled me out of my sadness and gave me some happiness. That was 5 years ago and he is something else. You will know when the new love comes into your life and when its ok to let yourself feel for another baby. Have faith cause if your a true boxer lover you cannot be without for long. I'd like to think your Magic is sitting with my Chance and they are both looking down at us..waiting for the day when we will all be togather again! I'll keep you and your family in my thoughts.

Hi Julie:
Just checkin in with you. How are you doing? I hope having a peaceful day. I took my husband with me to Boxer Rescue LA today to look at dogs and I don't know how it happened but next thing ya know we were walking all the dogs so they could get there bathroom breaks out of their cages. Between the two of us we must have walked over 30 dogs in 3 hours. We were having such a good time we didn't realize our bodies were giving out 1/2 way through. We both think we have a few babies in mind. We are going to bring the first one home for a sleep over this weekend and see how he does. I know the confusion pull and tug back and forth now trying to figure out when is the right time, the best time, I decided for me I don't want to waste any time giving my love to a Boxer in serious need like these rescued ones need. I hope and pray Tazzy knows he is the one that changed my life forever and no one will ever take his place in my heart but I have a really big heart and I hope there is room for another baby or maybe two or three in the future.
I put Tazzy's favorite blankets, beds, toys and food bowls away because they belong to him only. I will have to buy all new things for our new family member and visiting rescue sleepover guests when we make that final decision to adopt. I think of you all the time I feel we are both trying to function through life and it is very difficult right now. My prayers are with you and your husband.

Fond regards
Leilani And Tazzy (waiting at the Bridge)

Magic introduces Deeg to BW

Well, here I am again, Miss "Wishie Washie."

Thanks to my hubby and knowing those so called "looks on my face," we now have a 15 month old baby boy boxer by the name of Deeg!

We were on our way back to Oregon. One hour after getting on the road to head home, my hubby looked at my sad and confused face and said..."we're going back to get Deeg." I ask why...he said "you look like you're wondering if you made a big mistake by not getting him." I guess, the people who stopped by the boxer rescue passed him by..."was it meant to be?"

I now have a whole new set of problems: One, how does one raise a male boxer to be a gentleman? Two, what do we do if he challenges us? Three, no one can pronounce his name correctly twice in a row. Four, He plays keep away if he doesn't want to do something. Five, How many times does a male boxer have to pee before he is finished? Ha, Ha, Ha! I sure wish Magic was here to help me. She was excellent with puppies!

I did have a little remorse when I woke up early this morning so I logged on to BW. And of course I felt much better. Thank you every one for your wonderful posts!!! I can not believe how helpful it is to be able to communicate with other boxer lovers. Cheers to BW!

After I logged off of BW this morning, I let Deeg out of his crate. I took one look at his sweet sleepy face and felt my heart flutter. He was so cute!

I have a feeling that Deeg is going to keep my family and I on our toes. Magic was approx. a year when I got her. I did not have to go through much of this puppy stage with her; she was such a lady and hated breaking rules.

Thank you, thank you for all your post and encouragement with Deeg.

Julie, Magic and her new brother Deeg
I love you Magic, you taught me so much!
