Hi all. I post here infrequently, but had to come by for my Rainbow Bridge post.

On Wednesday we had to put our rescue boxer, Brandy, to sleep, 9 months after her initial diagnosis of lymphoma.

I wanted a dog my whole life. Brandy was my first dog, who I adopted when I was 29, and I couldn't have asked for a better friend. She was well worth the wait! She was the sweetest dog, and a favorite of everyone she met, including her vet! I wish we could have had so much more time with her, but feel blessed for the 4.5 years we did get together.

I feel lucky for so many reasons. I feel lucky to have had her as my best friend. I feel lucky that we had a connection I never would have thought I could have with a dog. I feel lucky that my husband, who I met after I adopted Brandy, loved her as much as I did (and she him). I feel lucky for the 6 months of remission we got. I feel lucky for the 3 months this summer when she was still feeling good. I feel lucky to have had a caring vet, who cried along with us as Brandy crossed.

I will miss her forever, but hope that the pain that is constant in my heart right now eases a bit with time and memories.

I love you and miss you Brandy! xoxoxo

We are lucky,,

I am so sorry for your loss, maybe my Sasha and your Brandy met at the bridge. But you are right, we are lucky to have these great companions. It's a part of my life that I will cherish forever.

I am a retired police detective, a been there done that kind of guy, but that dog could cut me down to size in seconds !! The first time I brought Sasha in to our unit, she peed on my partners shoe in our squad room just before going out on a raid !! We never laughed so hard, the next week, he had a boxer puppy at home with his family !!

Cherish the memories, as others have taught me, and Brandy will be with you always.

God bless, Brandy,

My deepest sympathy to you and your husband on the loss of your Beloved Brandy. Your sweet angel is now free of her illness and that is perhaps the only consolation. May the great love you shared and the joyful memories you made together help to heal your aching heart. Hugs. Rest in peace, Dear Brandy.

I am so sorry for your loss. I know that heartache well and sometimes you feel like it will never go away. It does lessen with time and eventually you will think of your sweet girl and be comforted. My little one, Ailis, has been gone almost four years and I still think of her sweet little face everyday-they are such blessings. Please know that many of us share your grief and wish you well God speed little Brandy
