Boxer Buddy
Hi all. I post here infrequently, but had to come by for my Rainbow Bridge post.
On Wednesday we had to put our rescue boxer, Brandy, to sleep, 9 months after her initial diagnosis of lymphoma.
I wanted a dog my whole life. Brandy was my first dog, who I adopted when I was 29, and I couldn't have asked for a better friend. She was well worth the wait! She was the sweetest dog, and a favorite of everyone she met, including her vet! I wish we could have had so much more time with her, but feel blessed for the 4.5 years we did get together.
I feel lucky for so many reasons. I feel lucky to have had her as my best friend. I feel lucky that we had a connection I never would have thought I could have with a dog. I feel lucky that my husband, who I met after I adopted Brandy, loved her as much as I did (and she him). I feel lucky for the 6 months of remission we got. I feel lucky for the 3 months this summer when she was still feeling good. I feel lucky to have had a caring vet, who cried along with us as Brandy crossed.
I will miss her forever, but hope that the pain that is constant in my heart right now eases a bit with time and memories.
I love you and miss you Brandy! xoxoxo
