How awesome is that!! I know it was love at first bark lovicon. I know that you were so happy. I can not believe the jerk asked for money. I would have charged her for pain and sufferin, or had her arrested for being in possession of stole property. I am so happy for you.

I am so happy that Champ is where he should be- with you. Good news is a great way to start my morning. Can't believe the audacity to ask for ransom money for your boy. I would likely have paid too.

A lil Update...
I just thought I would let everyone know how Champ is adjusting to all of this. Roberto and I brought Champ home to VA the same day that I made my last post. He is still very well mannered, and was a very good boy in the car for the 4 hour trip. He never once tried to get up in the front of the car no matter how restless he was from sitting in the back seat. I was so proud of him! Mostly everyone here loves him and just thinks he is the most handsome thing that was ever around here!
But, Roberto's brother in law thinks that he may be aggressive. I guess because some people relate them to pit bulls. But as every day goes by, they see that he is just a giant teddy bear. He has actually become very protective of my almost 2 year old niece, even though she picks and pokes at him all of the time. She seems to think that he is her personal jungle gym. But, if he hears her squeal for any reason, he comes running to make sure she is okay. So cute! He still knows all of the tricks that I taught him. And the kids get a kick that he is so well trained. I taught Champ 'paw' and 'other paw', when I ask him to give me his 'other paw' I always give him my other hand....sometimes when people do that trick with him he won't give him his other paw and they think that he is just being stubborn. But, Champ isn't stupid you have to give him your other 'paw' too! Champ loves his new sister Sunny. She is about 5 months old. She is a mix that I got from the local SPCA down here. They get along very well, and I can't wait to take them both to the beach with me! I also have yet to figure out if I want to take this lady to court and sue her for all of the money that she owes me. Because, I am convinced that my dog bought her a new SUV. But I really don't want to look at her ever again. I love the picture that I have of her in my head as I pulled out of the drive way with MY Champ...finally!!! Especially since it was just after her bf told me to never step foot on his property of he would call the cops! Thanks again everyone for the prayers...I believe that this truely was a miracle!

Congratulations on getting Champ back! I'm so happy for you! If you can I would sue or press charges. This woman will most likely do this again. Imagine another owner going through your ordeal. God love you for being so patient and good throughout all of this. I would have been arrested long ago if someone had my Caesar. I'm sure you felt that way many times.

I am a little confused. How did she make money on Champ? I know she made you pay her to get him back. Did she breed her female and sell puppies ? I too think that you should sue her. However, then she may know where you live now, and try to steal him again. I really do not know what I would do. I am just so glad that you have him back Are you planning to have him neutered? This would definitely keep her from coming back.

Yes Cindy, she did mate Champ with her female. I believe I did post that somewhere in here. As far as I know she only did it one time. I don't think I will have a problem with her stealing Champ again. Like I said, he was in MD when he was stolen (I was in NJ) but we both reside in VA now. So unless she wants to travel the 4 hours to get here..... Besides, not too many people know where I live now. Yes, I am planning on getting Champ neutered very soon. NO need to worry about that. Just thought I would unconfuse you..... Have a nice day all.

What a happy reunion - sorry for my late reply. I would be pressing charges as well - the nerve of that woman to refuse his return and then ask for $$$ while they held him hostage!!! 
Even if you do not get a monetary settlement this woman's reputation will be tarnished and if this ever happens to again the police will probably do something much sooner. The next dog may not be so lucky to have a family that finds him.
Congrats on the new addition! If you get a chance, please post some pics. I'd love to see some pictures of your fur babies. Have fun at the beach - it is one of Mason's favorite places too!
