What about Champ???

I am very curious as to Champ. Have you got him back yet? I, too, would be thinking about doing something on my own to get him back. If anyone had Shakira I would become their worst nightmare. That is the most awful story that I have read or heard about. I can not believe that you are up against the wall like that. I know if Shakira was to be stolen I would not be eating or sleeping, it would be my mission to get her back asap. I feel so bad for you and hope that you will have him home soon. You and Champ will be in my prayers from now on. Please let us know the latest. Debbie

I just saw this thread and I have to say that this is the saddest thing I have heard. I don't understand how the police won't help even with witnesses living next door to this lady. I hope you get Champ back ASAP. How about giving those neighbors disposable cameras so if they see Champ they could take pics to confirm that it is indeed your baby.

Wow! What a sad thread. I really don't understand why if you have all the papers for Champ (bill of sale, vet reciepts, past dog licenses, etc.) why the police cannot get him back. I'm pretty sure that in most states dogs are considered "personal property" it would be like my stealing your car and just keeping it in my garage. It's yours (as is Champ) and you have every right to having your "property" back.

I didn't think of the past receipts & dog lisences and why the police won't help you. I had some friends who went through a messy break up and their fur baby became a huge issue. The girl, who ended up with the dog, was told by police to make sure she got all the records from his house and register the dog with the town and they'd have no problem taking him back from her ex, if he ever took her. Fingers & paws still crossed hoping for Chance to make his way home to you.

Still No Good News...

Yet again I have no good news. I was supposed to be going to MD this weekend, but I was stopped by a new job opportunity. Not only is it killing me that I can't get there to get my baby back, but I want to be there for my younger sister....unfortunately she was raped this past weekend. I think that is what will make me have to go. I just don't want to mess up my chances with this job now that I have been finally offered one. Thank you everyone for such wonderful ideas....I think that the disposable camera one is just ingenious! None of my friends or family have seen Champ outside yet, and they haven't stopped by the neighbors houses in a while. I don't want them to make it too obvious...I think that if they just drive by instead of stopping than maybe she will start letting him out on the line for longer periods of time and just pretty much slipping up. And that would be my chance. The ladies daughter told Brian (the man who gave me the tip) that the dogs are kept in an old bedroom in their own feces sometimes.....which lets me know that she doesn't let them out as often as she should anymore. So it doesn't surprise me that the neighbors haven't been seeing him outside anymore, and just the female. I really appreciate all of the offers for help, it is nice to have some support. I do have all of Champ's papers and pics of him....so I don't understand the whole thing with the police. I guess they are saying that I am right that he is my property, they just can't escort me on to her property. So, I am pretty much left with the option of a law suit. And I plan to sew for my dog, half the money from the puppies, and emotional damage. Thanks again for the ongoing support, it is greatly appreciated..especially during this hard time. (Hugs)

Champ Is Home!!!

This is the moment that I have been waiting for!! I finally got Champ back at 1:30pm today. I went back to MD, like I said I would. Today was the day that I was supposed to go home. I decided to drive past that ladies house one more time, and when I did I saw Champ outside, so we stopped infront of their next door neighbors house. I had my mom bring his papers and I called the police. I talked to a really nice lady at the barracks this time, and she made the decision to send someone out. My fiance went through the neighbors yard and came out near where Champ was. But Champ spotted him and started barking like crazy. Then, the ladie's boyfriend came out and asked us who we were looking for. Roberto (my bf) told him that we wanted the next door neighbor, but she wasn't home and we left. But, we only went back out to where we were sitting. Well, the ladie's boyfriend came out to the car asking us what we were doing...but I wouldn't tell him. I think he recognized me and he said that if we came on his property he would call the police. I let him know that the cops already were called and just to wait for them. So the cop came and talked to us and these people's neighbors and then went to talk to the people. Eventually they agreed to give him back, but they wanted $15 for every month that they had him. I decided to just do it so that I wouldn't have to deal with them again. So, that was it....I got him back that easy. I don't think I should've had to pay money, but Champ is worth more than money to me. He went crazy when I got him back, he was licking me all over!! You couldn't even see the tears falling because he licked them up before they did! And the neighbors even came out to say congrats to me. Just thought I would let everyone know that he is home and safe....she was taking good care of him so he is still healthy. Thank god! Thanks for all of the prayers they truely did help bring him home. Thanks for all of the support too! I hope to post pics of Champ soon so you can see them. Thanks again!

That is so wonderful!!!!! I teared up thinking of the reunion!! I would have been so mad at the request to pay $15 a month for them to keep the dog they stole - but in the end I would have done the same just to get him back. Congratulations and I can't wait to see pics.

OMG Rachel! Hugs and kisses for Champ! I am sooooo happy for you! And I would have been the same and just paid the jerks if it meant getting my baby back (they will meet their maker one day ) Oh I am overjoyed for you! Take lots of pics and definitely get him neutered right away as not to have this happen again! Such great news

That is great! You went through so much to get him back and I am so sorry that happened to you. That is awful that someone could steal someone else's pet. I can't believe she wanted you to pay her $15.00 for every month! Unbelievable. I'm glad you go him back and can't wait to see pictures of him!
