I know peope might not agree with me and that's okay but if it was my dog and I had tried legal means and gotten nowhere I would stalk the house until I saw him outside and steal him back. I am against stealing in general but he was stolen from YOU first and he's your baby.

I would steal him back. After all you have the proof that he is yours. You could file a complaint at the police station, that you have an eye witness that this woman has stolen your dog. Bring the flyer that you posted and all of your pictures and paper work. Give them the name and address of the neighbor that called you. Tell them that this woman is in posession of stolen property, and you want her arrested.

I can not believe this person would keep someone elses dog and not return it to the proper owner. I can't believe the police will not assist you when you have all the paperwork to prove he's your baby. This is a nightmare... but I am hoping it will work out for you. We (me & Abigail) are keeping our fingers and paws crossed. I will check back to see the final outcome... boxer vibes are coming your way ((((((((((()))))))))

I am so sad to have to post this, but no Champ is not home yet. Being that I don't live in MD anymore and haven't since Champ came up missing, I had to go back home. BUT I do have many many people in MD that are looking out for him in this ladies yard, and they know that if they see him that they are just to steal him back. I am planning a trip back to MD in the VERY near future, hopefully when I go back it will be to bring him home with me. Like I said I am still puzzled to why the police can't help me. I am seriously thinking about giving them a lot of trouble at the station, because it really doesn't make any sense to me......if he were a human child they wouldn't think twice about going in there and taking him back. I guess some people just don't look at dogs the way that we do. Thanks for the ongoing support.

Wow! What a sad thread. I really don't understand why if you have all the papers for Champ (bill of sale, vet reciepts, past dog licenses, etc.) why the police cannot get him back. I'm pretty sure that in most states dogs are considered "personal property" it would be like my stealing your car and just keeping it in my garage. It's yours (as is Champ) and you have every right to having your "property" back.

Also, you stated that this woman works at a shelter; have you tried speaking with her bosses so they are made aware of what kind of individual they have working for them.

You also should definately consider a lawsuit. I'm sure there has to be some laws besides theft that she has broken.

Good luck and I'm praying for the best of news soon!
