:) It is so good to read your post and see that Izzy is feeling better, and eating and drinking a little, and even being a little sassy!! Sending out more healing and positive vibes for her, hope she continues to make good progress and that she is well enough to go home soon. Hugs - I know how worried you've been and sad that she isn't home with you. And a big hug for sweet Gus!!

Izzy Is Home!!!!!

Yah, my baby is finally home. It has felt like forever, even though it was a little over 2 days. She is doing good. They said that she ate well and ate all 2 oz they would give her at each meal. I am cooking her some chicken and rice right now, so hopefully she will eat for me. The tech that brought her out said she was eating like she was starving and wanted her food when they gave it to her!!! She is so happy to be home. When they brought her in the room to give me discharge instructions, she started to cry and looked at me like "mom, are we finally leaving??". She was pulling me thru the parking lot, LOL!!! She has the kick back in her step and the sparkle in her eyes. Gus was sooooo excited to see her. She wiggled at him too, and she went around and sniffed each kitty. She was sniffing the floor too, maybe to make sure she was home. She then laid in HER spot on the top of the steps. Gus is barking at her now to play and I told him she didn't feel like playing. He is so happy, he is beside himself. He is running around playing with all his toys and shaking them. He hasn't done that since she was at the vet. Izzy is just laying down licking where her IV was and he is barking at her trying to get her to play. Silly boy. Izzy is not quite back to playing yet. She has to eat a bland diet for 5 days and then I can slowly re-introduce her food, very slowly. She is also on 2 medications to coat her tummy. We are still waiting on the pancreatitis test, I think it's called PLI? It takes about a week to get back. Ok, I have to go now to go snuggle with my baby girl!! Thanks again for all the positive vibes and hugs!!!!! I will keep everyone posted on her progress and when we get the test results.

Sounds like there's some celebrating going on at your house! I'm SO happy for you, Izzy and Gus, so glad your sweet girl is feeling a lot better. Gus is acting just like Grunt would when he was deliriously happy! He missed his sis so much, bless his heart.

It's hard waiting on results. I wish there was a quicker way to process the PLI test, as it can be critical to immediate treatment of acute pancreatitis. Thank goodness Izzy responded to the IV fluids and meds, she is hungry and eating....and she is HOME!! :) Continued healing vibes for Izzy. Please keep us posted on her progress. I bet you are one happy mommy tonight!

I am a very happy mom!!! She is sleeping right now on my bed and I don't want to move her, even though she is in my spot to sleep, lol.

What does it mean if she does have pancreatitis? If she did have it, would she be eating? She is very hungry. I gave her rice and chicken and she wanted more, but I didn't want to overdue it. She is drinking water very well too. She would eat more if I gave it to her. She is skinny, but other than that, looks good. She is sleepy, but that is to be expected. she probably didn't get much sleep in the ICU.

The PLI test is pancreas specific, and is definitive in diagnosing pancreatitis. If Izzy's enzyme levels were high in initial bloodwork results, and with her symptoms (which sounded like pancreatitis), the cPLI would be the next step in diagnosing. It is a very good sign that Izzy is now eating and drinking, that means she is recovering. If she did have an acute attack, it may be the only one she'll ever have, sometimes that happens. If you do get a definite diagnosis of pancreatitis, your vet will probably recommend a VERY low fat diet for Izzy for the rest of her life - you don't even want to take any chances that this might happen again - fatty food can trigger it!! I am so keeping my fingers crossed that the PLI comes back with levels within the normal range, hope that she continues to improve and is back to playing with Gus soon :). Please keep us posted. And I hope you can get some rest tonight! ;)

Thanks for the explanation, that helps a lot!!!! They told me that they do an initial test and then another one if the first results come back a certain way. I am assuming they are running the second one, and the first one came back showing something, since it's not already back. I feed them both Innova Evo, and they get Wellness puppy treats. She gets some people food at times, whatever I have. Now I feel bad if I gave her something fatty :(

I think I will finally sleep well with my baby in bed with me. I didn't sleep the first night without her in bed, and the second night , I tossed and turned, even though I had Gus.
