Please let us know what the vet says tomorrow. I think not knowing what you are dealing with is SO much worse than finding out. At least then you can put plans in place to help her get through it.
The vet still thinks Bayleigh has immune mediated thrombocytopenia. The weight loss is caused by prednisone induced Cushing symptoms. They drew blood and are going to get a platelet count. 2 weeks ago her platelet count was 41. If the platelets are up to a higher level, they may reduce the pred to every other day.
So we will have to wait til the results are back tomorrow. She doesn't want to take her completely off in case Bayleigh would start bleeding.
Bayleigh's platelet count is up to 173 so they lowered her pred dosage. However, her white blood cell count was double the normal. The vet thinks she may have a bladder infection or UTI. I took in a urine sample and picked up a second type of antibiotics. We go back in a week for another blood draw and CBC.
I am hoping that the platelet count doesn't drop since the pred was lowered.
Bayleigh's platelet count has remained in the normal range on a low dose of prednisone. She hasn't lost any more weight. We go back on Sept. 4th for another CBC count.
She is doing great! She is a lot more like she used to be but still tires easy. It is so nice to come home to my baby leaping in the air and beaning like crazy again. And the incontinence has stopped.
Bayleigh has also started counter surfing again! She hasn't done this since she was a pup. I caught her eating the cat's food from the counter. I don't know how she managed to get the bowl to the edge of the counter!
