Honestly?
I probably wouldn't have a dog. I'd still just have cats. Abbey is the first dog I've owned since I'm on my own (25+ years), and boxer is really the only breed I considered based on past experience. I grew up on a farm and we had lots of dogs (19 at one time, once) and other critters, but our boxer was the one that stood out from all of the others.
I like boston terriers, but my friend has one and I get my fill of them from her. I also like frenchies (so ugly they're cute), but probably wouldn't get one unless I also had a boxer. I guess you could say I'm pretty partial to the breed.

My second choice would be a miniature dachshund...oh, wait, I already have one 
I guess technically you could say he was my first choice since I had him before Beau. I'd wanted one for as long as I could remember because the first family dog I remember was our dachshund, Oscar. I plan to get a second boxer next fall. Eventually, I'd like to have a Great Dane.

I love pugs. They have some of the same wonderful traits that boxers do, like snoring and farting. They're also a laugh a minute. There's a pug in my neighborhood who wears a red cape and beret (held on his little head with a chin strap...it's hysterical!) when he's out walking with his people and he just struts around like he's da man! You gotta love that he's so in touch with his 'fashion sense'!
