Chickie1, I see you're from NJ too. I've got you beat. Mine is a minimum 1 1/2 hours each way on a commuter bus, also to another state, and worse than that on a Monday morning or Friday night in the summer. I work in Manhattan and live between exits 117 & 114 on the Garden State Parkway, so we get all of the shore traffic then. I take a nap or catch up on my reading during the trip. Just think only another 22 years to retirement!

I travel 50 miles to work and 50 miles back again, from Manchester to Chester in the rush hour, on four different motorways, on a good day it takes 1Hr 15mins on a bad day upto 2 and a half hours.

2 and 1/2 hours? Yikes. I'm having a hard time with over an hour in good weather. Of course yours is in not so good weather at 2 1/2 hours but still.

My commute is as long as it takes for me to get out of bed and walk out of my room.

I do licensed childcare in my home....

I used to have to travel about 30 min each way, Glenn and I agreed that if it were any longer we would just move closer to work. But now I work from home, so it's hard to get much closer. I got a new car in Jan 2000 and it still has less than 6000 miles on it.

You mean when I actually DO go to work?? I am on PRN status which in medical terms means "as needed" so I basically pick and choose how much and how often I work. On the days I work I have about a 10 minute drive with very little traffic. One plus about my job that I love. :D

I live in Iowa and there is not a big traffic issue here :) The city I live in is about 115,000 and most people that live in town do not commute more than 1/2 hour. My husband and I are about 5-10 minutes away from our workplaces which I love! I don't think I could ever take the Chicago commutes.
