Malinda, could you work from home a few days a week? I am home M & F because I can not stand the drive. I work in the city so it takes me an hour each way, funny thing is if I took the train, the door to door commute would be an hour and a half!?!?

It took me three hours and fifteen minutes to get home once when it snowed. At sight of the first flake, I am out the door faster than you can say boo!

I think I'd ride my bike, whenever possible!!

Mine is 11 miles, 12-14 minutes, with two stop signs. Nice, huh?? :)
Lovely views, to boot.
It makes my lousy pay more worthwhile, at least!

That would be awesome, but it is all Interstate. Where I live is kind of like a suburb of Baton Rouge. Almost everyone who lives there works in BR. We have almost NO type of public transportation (only buses in BR, and those are yuck! :() and every Tom, Dick and Harry can get a driver's license in this state. All this considered, I AM the poster child for ROAD RAGE!

They are looking at having us work out of our houses as an option but I don't think it will come to that. For one they have to have a building anyways for transportation purposes and for two the other lady is not computer literate enough to work from home. So I don't think that is going to be a way out.

Thinking that maybe car pooling every now and than wouldn't be too bad.

>zzzzzzzzzzz...<

I've been commuting over 80 miles a day for about 14 years now. My current commute is 97 miles one way (2 tolls). It takes me about 1 hour in the morning (without fog) and about an hour and 20 minutes in the evening. I commute over the 'Longest Bridge In The World' - The Lake Pontchartrain Causeway. It's looooong and straight for 26 miles over water (boooooring....>yawn<). It took me about a minth to get used to it, then I invested in a great stereo for my car so it would help the monotony. Great money and I HATE living in a city, so I make the sacrifice.

OK, please don't hate me. I'm one of those 7-10 minute people. I, too, can make a quick stop home to check on my furbabies (Besides Bree and Chelsea (cat)I have a cat (Marble) with diabetes who gets insulin.)
I used to have a 30 minute drive and believe it or not, I don't get anymore done at home than I used to. And I miss the wind down time between work and home.
