Great Thread...Great Stories

Paul and I met at a wedding. To take it a step further, he was the Best Man and I was the Maid of Honor. There's a picture from the wedding of the head table where I am leaning over whispering to the Bride and Paul and leaning over whispering to the Groom. We were both getting details on one another at the same time. :D We were married 20 months later and will be celebrating our 13th wedding anniversary in 4 days (April 8th). We were meant for each other. lovicon

I was dating his best friend when JC and I first met. To be honest I couldn't stand him at all. He came to a party at my then boyfriend's house and just decided to take over. He drank all our alcohol and none of us were 21 yet  so we couldn't run out and get more. Not an hour later he was passed out throwing up in a beer box. He then proceeded to get sick so he stayed in town longer than planned.

I found out later that week that he'd been an Olympic hopeful for soccer before his knee gave out. Lucky for him I had a thing for soccer players (they have the best legs ever!!). My then boyfriend and I broke up, but I stayed in contact with JC because my friend had a crush on him. A few months and many phone calls later, we decided to give "us" a try and the rest is history. In June we've been together 7 years and married for 3 in May.

Cute thread!

I met my handsome husband in college. We were both electrical engineering majors. The first time I noticed him was sophomore lab, during our final presentations. He was always friendly and sweet. Well, I'm so nervous during presentations! I saw his smiling face at the back of the room and focused on that. Helped me deliver a great presentation! :D

Kind of forgot about him over the summer, but I broke up with the BF that I had been seeing. At the beginning of fall semester, I noticed the same guy following me around and sitting behind me in all of my classes. It was him. :) So I struck up a conversation with him.

A week later I asked him to a movie, where he was such a gentleman he wouldn't even hold my hand. He spent the whole movie with his arms crossed! I thought that was the end of it, but it wasn't.

Two weeks later I came down with pneumonia. He nursed me to health on HIS couch for over a week, and we've been inseparable ever since. Such a sweetie. :D

This is such a cute thread!!!!

Mark and I lived across the hall from eachother in the university residences. I dating a very messed up "bad boy" from back home (7 hours away). Neil was always hurting my feelings, lying and getting into trouble. He was not good for me at all.

The first night in rez Mark came across the hall to introduce himself. We found out that we had both drived in demolition derbies (ha ha) and that really got the conversation going. We spent the whole night telling our life stories, looking at pictures and watched cartoons in the morning. The whole time he was very kind and interested in everything I said. I remember thinking he was the nicest person I'd ever met. Two days later my boyfriend from home and I broke up because he was so jealous of my new friendship with Mark. I drove home to see him, make sure he was going to be ok (you know the self-destructive types) and say goodbye for good.

Mark and I didn't speak for a month when I got back from my trip. It was killing me. I thought he was upset with me and he thought I was upset with him. I was very ashamed for having anything to do with my ex-boyfriend and was afraid to approach him. His roommates made it clear what they thought of me (and it wasn't very nice) and that I wasn't to bother Mark anymore. For a month we avoided each other and it was THE most painful month of my life. MUCH worse than any of the stupid, hurtful things my ex had done to me.

Finally I couldn't stand it anymore. Late on night I knocked on his door with a bowl of ice cream. I had every intention of giving it to him as a peace offering. Instead, when he opened the door I blurted out "I miss you" and he said he missed me too. I apologized, then dumped the ice cream on him.

He was no worse for wear and we have been together ever since. He is my best friend and my safe place in this world. We are getting married on Oct 12 and I cannot imagine how life would have been if I hadn't showed up on his door step with a bowl of ice cream.

Graham and I met at a Pig Roast in Scarborough, Ontario which had been organised by a group of neighbours - one was my cousin and his wife, and one was a friend he worked with. There was a total of 6 neighbours on one side of the street who planned the event, and each house was allowed to invite a number of friends. The fences between the backyards came down and we wandered up and down - one had the pig roasting in his backyard, the other had a swimming pool, another had a pool table, etc. The highlight was when the pig caught fire and we thought the fire brigade would arrive! That was back in 1974 - we were married in 1977 and have a daughter, Jacqueline (23 and married) and Robert (20) and became grandparents in March 2001 to a beautiful little girl, Natalya Kathleen.

A moment of fishing insanity!!

First, a little background! I grew up in a fishing crazed family and love to fish...always have.

Well when I moved from Illinois to North Carolina in 1985, I did not have anyone to fish with..nor knew where to go to fish. Well, one Saturday morning I was awakened to the sound of slamming and bamming underneath my bedroom window. I looked out to see what the noise was and it was the man who had JUST moved into the apartment below me and he was loading his fishing gear into the back of his truck!!!!:D I raised my window and YELLED "Where do you think you are going???" He stopped and stared and finally said "fishing" and I yelled back "Not without me you're not..wait right there!"

I got dressed, grabbed my fishing gear and ran down stairs...there he was still just standing there in shock! I did not even know this man's name. I jumped in the truck and away we went....a few miles down the road the reality of all this HIT me. I was in a truck with a total stranger headed for the riverbank in the middle of nowhere!!!! Good Lord how stupid can one woman be!!! Thank goodness he was NOT an axe murderer or anything...I just lucked out! We were married 11 months later and have been fishing together as man and wife for 15 years now!

He always tells everyone he WAS in shock because any woman he had ever dated always fussed at him for fishing tooooo much and here was one demanding to be taken along! He said he knew he was "hooked" from the beginning! djk

Cute thread :D

I met my man at a bar actually. I had went out with my girlfriend and we were having a good time and I kept admiring this guy with the awesome body and I told my friend what a nice butt he had. She saw this as the opportunity of a lifetime to embarass the heck outta me, and went running to tell him that I thought he had a nice butt. I was as red as a tomato!!
Not even 5 minutes later he came and sat beside me and introduced himself. The rest is history...we have been together almost 5 years.
Who would have thought that my embarassing moment would have turned out so good :D

great tread!

I met my husband at work. I was working front desk at the grocery store I worked at and it was really busy. I was taking a second to catch my breath and add up some checks when I turned around and there was my future husband. He had seen how busy I was going to give me a minute to rest before he bothered me. He handed in his job application, was hired and we fell in love over our first game of bleach bowling(you don't want to know). There have been some rough times but we are celebrating our 1 year anniversary next week.

In 1984, (the year of Cyndi Lauper, Wham and Culture Club) I was 14 and went to a Catholic girls school and Pat was 16 and went to a Catholic boys school. Well, their school had a dance and our school was invited.

A very loud friend of mine had once crashed into him at a rollerskating rink, and recognising him, dragged him over to say hello.

Despite the very best efforts of his family to mess things up, (and their efforts were quite good - we did split up for 18 months) we were married in 1988.
