How did you find your boxer's name?

Scrapper's Mom

Boxer Insane
I have to say I had nothing to do with naming Scrapper. His breeder took one look at the feisty little just-born puppy as he scrambled over the others on his way to Mama's milk bar and she said, "Aren't you a scrappy little puppy?" And it stuck. And as much as we thought and thought, and experimented and researched, we couldn't find any name that fit as well. So Scrapper it stayed. And I also kind of like that it sorta implies to strangers that he might be unpredictable, like "Killer" or something. So, Shhhhhhhh! Don't tell anyone that he's a big brown love-bug. Let them wonder :)

Cami

We always thought that our first dog would be named Chevy, we also thought that we would end up with a male. So, when Cami came along I thought the name Chevy sounded too manly.

My husband is a mechanic, all of our autos (11) are general motors vehicles so it was hard to try and get something different from chevy.

We also have a race car, (1970 Chevelle SS) and we condidered Chevelle but I knew that it would end up Chevy for short. So we actually went through an entire cars parts. We thought of everything, we started at the top of the engine and worked our way down. When it came to the camshaft he really like that....I thought it way too long. He then said CAM and I again thought it too manly. I added an "I" and Cami stuck. It totally fits her (OR) any Boxers personality.....constantly spinning and in motion.

She gets every version of Cami as you can imagine. Cam-Cam, Camity poo-poo.....Camity-Cam-Cam....Cam I Can.....Cam of worms.....Cami-Cam-Cam......And of course when she is being not her perfect self....Camshaft NO!!!!!!!

Our friends with actual "human" children have also gone the route of car-like names. There is a Gage, (as in gauges) Crowler (a camshaft manufacturer), Catalina (for the old Pontiac catalinas), and Phoenix (for a racing tire manufacturer)......we have created monsters........

***A sidenote*** Our kitten had to have a ~theme~ name as well. She is a russian blue....so blue she is silver....our race car is silver and you guessed it, her name is Silver.....or silver bell, silver bella....

So we have a Kevin (hubby) and a Cami (didn't want to change the C to a K) and a Susi (me) and a Silver......nice little family!!!

The boys don't have middle names, but we use their last names when they are in trouble or not listening...

"Magnum Filimonuk!!!"

"Omar Filimonuk!!!"

But, that doesn't happen very often because they are complete angelicon and never, ever get in trouble and they always listen.

 Yeah right. :D

Madison got her name because I really like that name for a little girl a lot. Since I'm not too sure about being a parent one day I figured if we don't have kids at least I can still use the name. It suits her but my husband calls her Mabbles and I call her Madpie. She responds to all.

Let's see...

Our first baby girl, Xena, we adopted her from a family that was moving away & they had already named her. She was already 2 1/2, so we kept her name. She also goes by the following:

Booger, Zoo Zoo Petals, ZZ, and when she's in trouble...Xena Marie!

Our 2nd baby girl we named Mathilda. She was named after the character in the movie "The Professional" played by Natalie Portman. My husband and I love the movie. Mathilda also goes by:

Mattie bugs, Mattie Mouse, & MOUSE when she's in trouble =)

Finally...our sweet baby boy! We adopted him from a family when he was 6 months old. They had named him Rocky. Neither my husband, nor I cared for the name. But because he was already 6 months, we didn't want to completely change it. So we expanded on the "rocky" and renamed him "Rocket". Rocket is named after the Nickelodeon cartoon, "Rocket Power". Rocket also goes by :

Rock Rock, Baby boy, & Bull

Great idea for a post!!!:D

~Lola (beautiful fawn with the most georgeous black mask I have ever seen, it looks like velvet) was her rescue given name, so we added to it and call her "Lola Lee" (the kids thought it sounded cute) although most of the time we call her "leelee"

~punky (even though she is not boxer) torti cat,
was named cause she was orange and black and so we shortened it from pumpkin to "punky"

~Buddy white persian rescue, his name was picked because my son's cat had just died and I went that same week and got him for my son and we decided that he was his new "buddy" so it stuck

~Tucker A friend of ours was going overseas and thought we needed one more cat. So he is ours now too!

~Chopper & Sammie 2 of the craziest birds I have ever had!!

Chopper was named cause my hubby is motorcycle crazy and kids named Sammie

I think that is enough animals in the house for me for now!!

Tango was going to be Tug or Tango. He's very elegant and not very pushy, so Tango it was (registered name is Exotic Rhythm.)

We got Snap as a rescue when she came in with a broken leg that her owner wouldn't pay to fix. She was playing, did a fast spin, hit a post - her leg went SNAP!

Sidda1018

Super Boxer
When we got Sidda I thought she looked like one of those dogs you would see in a southern movie lazing across a front porch. We had recently watched the movie "Divine Secrets of the Ya Ya Sisterhood" in which most of the characters have southern names and we decided to go with one of the main characters Siddalee. We separated it Sidda Lee, but usually just call her Sidda. We also call her Sidder, Sidda Bear, or Bear and that last one makes her excited cause her whole butt wiggles!

Just to share...We also have 2 other fur kids.
A male maltese who I wanted to give a heart throb name so he became Maverick after Tom Cruise on the movie "Top Gun"
A female bichon frise which I tried for days to come up with the right "cutsie" name for and finally picked Galveston (not cutsie at all) out of the atlas. But it fits her and she could make any name cute.

I let my sister name Daisy, she picked some bad names at first. I let Daisy stick because it was her mothers name(the dog not my sisters). Everyone started calling her Daisy duke so when I got my male boxer I named him Rosco after the dukes of hazard.
