How and Why did you decide on your boxers name?

Super Boxer
Sophie was a complete surprise for me and Christophe from 4 of our friends, so we obviously hadn't spent any time thinking of a name to prepare for her arrival.

The day we got Sophie (July 19th, 2008) Christophe and I were at home together. Our friends began stopping by, one by one, to spend time with us and offer us their condolences, as we had just experienced a devastating loss.

One of our friends came into our house with a large picnic basket. I didn't think much of it because she had previously told me she was going on a picnic that afternoon. After about three minutes of all of us sitting around the living room talking, the picnic basket lid popped open and out climbed a tiny 7 week old brindle female with a pink ribbon tied around her neck.

I first looked at Christophe thinking he had something to do with this, but the surprise on his face and tears in his eyes told me he was just as shocked. The puppy came straight to me, so I scooped her up and started crying uncontrollably.

She was my dream dog! (All of our friends knew my affinity for brindle boxers well.) She looked so sweet and girly and I just knew immediately that she was a "Sophie." I'm marrying into a French family and so it just seemed fitting.

It's funny. There was never really any discussion about naming her. We just knew.

Loving Boxers

My parents got their first Boxer the year before I was born. My dad liked actual Boxer names and he liked Cassius Clay, but when he changed his name to Muhammed Ali my dad just stopped liking the guy. My dad them named our first boxer Cassius Clay, but Cash for short. Cash was a very small fawn colored boy with no white on his face at all. A year after I was born we got a solid white girl, who later gave us many problems. She was named K.O. Kayne, and her and Cash lived happily together for 12 or so long years. We are naming a new fawn girl boxer puppy and we wanted to honor Cash in some way when we named her. We thought about Muhammed Ali, but we thought about Kimber to, after the gun. So we named her Mali Kimber, but we call her Kimber. Hope this wasn't too long! :)
