Tina and I am a Christmasholic.

I start decorating for Christmas as soon as Halloween is over. This has been happening for a while now. I can’t seem to control it. As soon as the temperature starts dropping and the leafs start changing I get this feeling, this urge, this this warmth in the pit of my stomach and I can’t fight it for long. Usually about 1 week. Then I start taking down my normal decor and put up CHRISTMAS!!!! First it’s just the little things. Little Santa’s, and snowflake stuff, and Reindeer. And then I start pulling the Poinsettias (fake) out. And then and then and THEN... THE CHRISTMAS TREE!!! Now this is where it gets bad. Lights, Lights and then more Lights. All of these little twinklie lights. Red ones, Blue ones, Green ones, all the colors of the Rainbow!! And then the ornaments! How I love my ornaments. Big ones, small ones, Glass ones, Animals, Angles, BOXERS!! Gingerbread men and women, candy canes. There can never be enough ornaments. Once the tree is all done then I turn off all the lights and turn the tree on and then lie down on the floor and watch it. I love the twinkles and the sparkles and the ornaments. Oh how wonderful Christmas time is!!

I've got one better (or worse?) for you. A friend of mine (sure, likely story--no really it IS a friend of mine!) at work put her Christmas tree up on Oct 8th! I am dead serious, she had Halloween decorations up outside, and her tree all decorated up on the inside! She really made me want to put mine up, but I have an old meanie for a husband who said he didn't think it was a good idea to have the tree up any longer than it had to be since Boomer is still going through his "teenage" stage. Humph! So, he's going to be gone hunting this weekend, and guess what? Up goes Mr. Christmas Tree! AND, a new kitty friend(?) for Boomer is coming home that he knows nothing about! I'll show him, Boomer's teenage stage AND a kitten stage ALL AT THE SAME TIME! Mwwaahaahaa!

Can I join CLA??? (Christmas Lovers Anonymous) I would SO be putting my Xmas stuff up - hubby is a bahumbug :( I am SO SO SO needing new christmas tree decor this year too! Hopefully, DH will let me buy all new!!! Even my kids have started their wish lists

Sign me up for CLA! I love Christmastime. I haven't put my tree up yet...but it's going up soon. I really like the Christmas songs. I've been singing "Rocking Around the Christmas Tree" all day in my head. I know a person who really gets psyched out during Christmas. She changes the dishes, all the decor and even the sheets to Christmas ones. I haven't gotten that bad yet...but that might change once I have children. Such a happy time

My Dh gets so excited too, so I feel lucky! He just came home last night and said he saw this huge Scooby Doo Santa blow-up thing that sits in the yard and he wants to buy it! LOL It's huge and is about $80, but he was all excited and had twinkly eyes about it, so he's probably going to buy it today. :rolleyes: We bought more lights last weekend and are planning on decorating the week of Thanksgiving....seems so far away...

I find if I put my Christmas stuff up too soon I get tired of looking at it! But I do still have my live Poinsetta from last year. Does anyone know if the leaves will turn red or is it just gonna stay green now?

The only way I have thought about Christmas is getting the kids' layaways done and my sons airline ticket bought to come here for Christmas.

Someone did bring up a good point though. I am going to DREAD Christmas this year. Quinsi and a tree oh lordy! That is gonna be SO much fun :rolleyes:

I LOVE CHRISTMAS! Hubby does too but he doens't want decorations up until Thanksgiving! :( Oh well 3 more weeks right??!?!?!?

Me too, I love Christmas. I usually start after Thanksgiving and put our tree up the 1st week in December. My hubby never gets into it. Dreads when we have to take down all the Christmas boxes from the attic. I want to buy new outside decorations, I was surprised he said to start looking. Wondering why most men dislike the holiday?

I wish I felt like all of you about Christmas...my DH loves it as do all 4 of my children but I just dread it. I have tried everything to change my outlook but the closer it gets the more worked up I get. I tell my DH that he just needs to crate me and the dogs up and send us all some place where we can forget all about the stress and hoopla of Christmas and just set around soakin up the sun (maybe read a book) and chew on bones. I hate bein a scrooge but I have always (even as a kid) just freaked out at Christmas. Too many people to try to please and make happy and I know that I can't do it! That is why I Love my Furkids so much they are pleased and happy without me bendin over backwards and standin on my head....no matter what they show me Love. Every year I try and every year I fail, If any of you know of a cure for this please let me know. I hate being the bahumbug every year (I do not think it is will power either, I know I have plenty of that......I lost 100+ pounds without any herbal or medical assistance). I have thought about going to a shrink but they always want to give me meds and I more of a natural remedy type person but the more I read all of these posts the more open I am becoming to a shrink and his "happy pills". Sorry if I drug anyone down.....just send me some Christmas Lovin Boxer World vibes, I definitely need all the help I can get.
