Joseph Michael (note the use of his full first name and middle name) was very fresh today. This morning I noticed a red bump in between his toes.I called, and was able to get him in to be seen this afternoon. He always gets excited when we get out of the car at the vets, so I put him in about 12 sit/stays before we even get in! When we get up to the door, there was a car with two big scary dogs growling and showing their teeth at us. I got freaked out thinking we were both going to become dog food, so I pulled Joe away and into the building. The waiting room was packed. Joe was so excited that I looked like the Flying Nun (for those of you old enough to remember her) trailing behind him. It took me about 5 minutes to get him to sit and stay and be calm. When the Dr. was looking at Joe's toe, he said there was something like a thorn in the bump. He tried to squeeze it out, but it wouldn't work. Being the wimp that I am, I could not watch. He went back to get some tools (yuck) and brought a tech to help hold Joe. At this point Joe was behind me on his hind legs with his front legs hooked around me....picture a backwards hug. It was really quite cute.
Anyway, we finally get him to sit while they were working on him. When they finished, he turned and looked at the tech and went to bite at her face!
. She jumped back and I grabbed his mush while the vet and I told him "No" in a firm voice. Everyone in the back heard us and came in to see what happened. I was so embarassed! He was a total beast. The worst part was they didn't even get the thorn out. I need to soak it 3 times a day and he goes in again on Friday morning. I dread it. I wonder if they would mind if I had a shot of vodka before I bring him in Friday.
I bet they are getting the muzzle ready.
