Got Snakes

Well Gloria healed up completely from her cold and is back to eating her large rats again. When she was sick, she hardly ate anything. It got to the point that I was starting to worry about her losing weight. I know that snakes don't eat much during the colder winter months, but her tank is heated and she really don't realize it's cold outside. Now Monte on the other hand eats anything you through at him. You give him a large rat and he gets before it hits the floor off his tank. He has no problem with his appetite. Monte is younger and still growing so he has a good appetite, where as Gloria is older and more laid back when it comes to food. Well hope to hear more about your snake kids out there.

I was wondering if any of you snake owners have ever owned a bearded dragon. I have had mine for about three weeks now, and he is doing fine. I have a good vet that is into reptiles, so I hope I don't have to use her. I plan to at least get two fecal samples a year, even when healthy. Reptiles are really interesting. I have to admit that I'm a little leary of snakes. My seven year old thinks thy're "cool." Greg- I grew up just down Highway 41, in Fond du Lac.

Got Snakes

Hi Boxerdadx3, I'm not sure what a breaded dragon looks like. I'm assumming it looks like a large lizard with the skin under the neck that looks like a bread. I once had a spiny igauna( excues the spelling), but it died of an infected toe. It ripped it's toe off, and I was not award that it had gotten infected until it was to late. I miss him. I've got two Ball Pytons, Gloria and Monte, they are cool snakes. Real mellow and well socialzed. Oh yes I've down Highway 41 in Fond Du Lac many times. Mosty dog shows at the fair grounds. Glad to hear from you.

Snakes are so cool, I thought there would be more responses to this thread. It is the most viewed thread in the Others Pets section. Which I think is so cool. It shows there is a interest into the world of snakes wormicon.

Got Snakes

Been a while since we did any snake chat here. So I thought I would see how everyone is doing with their snake kids. My Gloria and Monte are just fine, they are moving slow. Their not eating much lately because they are in a hibernating stage. They get pretty lazy inthe winter months. I have heated tanks for them , but they know it's winter and they are not so active. Hope to here from some of the other snake fanciers soon.

Hi Greg.... read what you wrote about the number of views vs. the number of actual replies and wondered if all those other people were thinking what I was thinking when I saw "Got Snakes?" Despite it being posted in the "Other Pets" forum, I thought it might be a post on how to get rid of them rather than on owning them!  Please take that comment with a grain of salt ~ as scared as I am of snakes, I could/would never harm one. Unfortunately for me, snakes are just a fact of life here. If they were little bitty ones, I wouldn't be so worried, but there a lot of Pythons and Cobras. We live on the edge of the Rain Forest/Nature Reserve here so monkeys, monitor lizards, and snakes are frequent visitors to our home. So far they've all stayed outside... thank God! :D Anyway, my hat's off to all of you brave souls who own snakes ~ I'd almost pay your airfare just to come over here and take some of "mine" home with you!:p

Got Pet Snakes

Hi Mom3, Wow I never looked at this post that way. Boy ! I'll bet your right, people are looking here to get rid of pesty snakes. I'm thinking more in the line of pets. I'd be pretty scared living where you live with cobras and boa's crawling around looking for lunch. The number one reason I have ball pythons is that they don't grow very big. I'm a city boy we keep our pet snakes in large tanks and take them out daily for socialization. They are very tame and lovable, unlike the wild guys you have. If I ever seen a cobra other than in a zoo, I'd take off running HaHa. No thanks I don't think I would take any of your snakes home. They are much happier where they are. HaHa. Thanks for the offer any way and I do what to thank you for opening eyes to the fact that not everyone comes to see Got Snakes with pets in mind.
