There are so many, and I have yet to try a lot of them. I was just thinking about this because I just got some Indian takeout for dinner. I hadn't had it in so long and realized how much I loooove it.

I want to know about what other people like, and some real dishes...
I'm a foodie :D

And also, in other countries - like a lot of you guys in England...do you have all sorts of various ethnic foods around you?

seems like a lot of people don't like Indian food. I don't know why. I like almost anything that is spicy, love curry (but hate the smell of it)
A friend of mine is west indian, and she looks at me when I eat Indian food, asking how the hell I could eat that stuff...guess there's a big different between the two

My DH is Italian/Syrian. Now, I come from a home where there was meat and potatoes. Period!!

I love my DH's culture. His family is a blast! It was a shock at first but man oh man. I love them. It is not only the food but the people!! I love both the foods cooked by these fabulous people.

Come on people! Tell me about some dishes!! Point being, I want to experience and know what the food is like so I can try it :D

I love Indian & Thai food!

I have some good Indian recipes that I have made:

Pork Vindaloo
Spicy Dal with onion (lentils)
Samosas
Basmati Rice Salad
Tandoori Murghi (grilled chicken skewers)
Red Lentil Curry
Punjabi-style Masala Shrimp
Cucumber-Mint Riata (cold yogurt condiment/sauce)

as far as Thai goes:

Tom Khaa soup is fabulous! (coconut milk soup with lemongrass!)
Thai green curry
Pad Thai Noodles

Those are a few favorites to get you started. :D

Italian, Mexican, Thai, just recently tried a Moroccan place and it was fantastic! They have this delicious flatbread that you dip in tajine (sp), tajine is similar to stew, it's so well seasoned and there are many different kinds. Kebabs seem to be a staple too. The meal was five or so courses and there's a lot of tradition in the way the food is served. I'm a picky eater, meat and potato upbringing, but I loved it. If you can find a Moroccan restaurant I'd say it's definitely worth a shot trying it!

Nothing beats good ole Southern food or Soul food!If you like spice & season this is the food to try, the only way you can get it, is come to the South. We have a lady in town that has a small cafe & she could make a pig ear taste like a fillet. No recipe will help prepare these foods, this is an art & she is talented. Hanley
