Dogs Living In A Pig Hole

Ok...last night we were invited to a home that houses 3 beautiful brindle boxers. When we entered the home, the smell almost knocked us off our feet!:eek: :eek: Once our eyes stopped watering we saw a huge pile of garbage....and I mean garbage, empty cans of food, food wrappers, empty cigarette packs etc, in the middle of the living room floor!!! Toys were everywhere, dirty dishes everywhere! Leftover food on tables and furniture. There was also 6 cats running around. These people have 3 kids as well. I have NEVER in my life seen such a mess in someones home!! I have seen something a lot similar one time when I was watching an episode of COPS, and CAS was called on the people. One cop was so disgusted, she gave the woman sh*t for being such a pig! Anyway, these people said "Please excuse the mess, but we give up with 3 dogs, 6 cats and 3 kids"!! Speaking as a woman, I do not understand how any woman could have people come into her home and see that mess! I would be absolutely ashamed of myself! However, they are the nicest people you would ever want to meet! We had Xena with us and when we first went inside, Xena went into a sneezing fit!! I think the smell got to her too!:p
Anyway, I just wanted to share that and the next time you think your house is a mess...just think that there is always someone else out there who's home is far messier than yours!! My hubby never complains that things look messy around here, and when we left there last night he hugged me and thanked me for being me!:D

Those are unfit living conditions for humans and animals. How is their personal hygene and that of the three human children? If it was poor or non-existent I would consider reporting them to CPS.

Thats horrible. I wouldnt want to be a dog in that house, even more a child! I too would be completley humiliated if someone walked into my house and saw a mess like that. Im not a clean freak, but I could never let my house get that disgusting.

Jeez, I feel a lot better about us now - we're just at the dog hair, dirt, slobber and other canine bodily fluids on the floor stage!

On a serious note, I would consider calling the police, just so that they get a reality check. You can't store trash in your house, and children, pets and adults shouldn't live like that. They need to realize that "giving up" isn't an option. I mean really, not even throwing the trash away? You would be helping them in the long run.

That's disgusting! If kids and animals are too much to clean up after, then you shouldn't have them. To admit that they have given up on cleaning shows that they aren't ready to be parents. If they both work, maybe they could afford a cleaning service or part time maid. What does that teach their 3 children. As the kids get older, they can help clean. While my older boys are still alot of work, they are starting to learn to pick up after themselves. My oldest vacuums the house twice/week and they both help watch our toddler while we get other housework done. As to whether or not to call CPS, that's your decision. I definitely wouldn't go back there. If they ask why you won't come over, be honest. It may be the best thing you could do for them.

That is just gross. I grew up in a home with 5 kids, 2 dogs and a cat and never did we ever have a mess like that. I can't possibly imagine anyone living like that, human or canine.

Someone be called about the sitaution. It's not hard to pick up after yourselves, what ever happened to kids having chores?

Please call the cops or CPS for the welfare of all involved. Sounds like there are some mental problems in that house that need mandatory professional help.

:eek: Not only would I call CPS but I would call some type of animal protection group. I watch a show on TV (can't remember the name) anyway, these people in uniform go to houses and collect animals that are being mistreated and/ or neglected. I realize there are plently of animals in rescues and shelters but at least they are cleaned up after and have a chance of going to loving homes where there isnt a health risk.
It is unheathly for humans of all ages, but especially young ones, and animals to live like that. :mad:
Give up?:( Give me a break... That is a very sad excuse for not taking out the trash. How about I am lazier than sin and so is my family. No matter how nice these people are, they need to clean up. I have seen children removed from homes(if thats what you want to call it) like this and taken to foster homes until the living conditions improved, tremendously!

I feel for those children and those animals.. I hope their hygene isnt as bad as their house!

The dogs didn't eat the trash on the floor? We call Rita and Munson the "Quicker Picker Upperers" because if we even drop our napkin they are ready to eat it. The cigarette wrappers were on the floor? I am truly amazed. What if the dogs ate those? I am guessing they would be very sick. Did you eat or drink off of their dishes? I would have politely declined anything they offered.

I teach kids with behavioral disorders, and when they bring me pictures of themselves at home, I am truly horrified sometimes. The way they live is just so different from myself (many of them come from very hard backgrounds). It amazes me what people think of as normal and exceptable if they allow themselves to.

I know what you are going through. I have been in that position before. Not with the house but with hygiene. My former boss, when we lived in Germany, never took a shower. His hair was greasy and he had a serious funk to him. I went over to his house one time and his bathtub had black soot in it from when the maintenance man worked on their water heater. Over a month later I went back to his house and the soot was still there. It gives me the creeps just thinking about it.
You’re in kind of a lose/lose situation. Do you call Child Protective Services and let them assess their situation or do you do nothing and hope everything turns out all right. Because if they find out you called CPS on them you will probably lose a friend and if you don’t how can you look them in the eye the same way again. I don’t envy your decision.
