I just started the Lamb and Rice formula from the Chicken and Rice formula as the Solid Golf Wolf King food gave my boy HORRIBLE gas, and so far he and my girl are both eating the Lamb and Rice formula. I plan on rotating between it, the chicken and rice, and the ALS more so for a taste change than anything else for them, and POSSIBLY Blue Buffalo if they'll eat it and it doesn't give them gas but we'll see. I agree it's MUCH lighter in color and is a smidge bigger (but not by much), but my 2 eat it and are typically pretty picky (well my boy is anyway), so so far so good. And no negative side effects like gas or the runs.

I actually like that the kibble is bigger! I was always wondering if Canidae would make a 'big bites' version of their food because when Lambeau gets going eating his food he sometimes chows it down pretty fast and ends up getting some food stuck up in his throat. He's only eaten the new stuff for two meals now, but we'll see if the bigger pieces help with that problem!

I will be interested in seeing a review of the new formula in Dogfoodanalysis too but to me, adding another grain to the mix (barley) is not a change for the better. And millet, that's those tiny round seeds you see in bird food. I can't see how that could possibly be beneficial to my dog. Also, the local supplier has raised the price by $5 a bag on top of it all. I personally wouldn't mind paying a little more if they would leave the formula alone. To me, they are just making a cheaper product and charging more for it. If they change the other formulas, I will have to find another brand to buy.

I am not happy about the change, my boy is pretty picky and Canidae is the only food he likes to eat. I have had him on ALS. I am not a fan of the lamb and Rice though. Thanks for the info!

I don't have much of a choice but to stick with it, it seems that any other food I try it gives my dogs gas, so for taste wise I'll just be rotating between the Canidae varieties and it'll just have to be good enough. I still think it's comparable (and possibly better than) Blue Buffalo, Solid Gold, and many others, so even though I wish they hadn't switched it up, I'm good as long as my house doesn't smell likea rotten egg factory.

So, I'm not sure that Lambeau is really liking as much as I initially thought. Anybody else having loose/runny stool problems?? The canidae website said to expect minimal digestive complications and they should transition well, but Lambeau has had really soft, runny gross poo since starting the new Canidae. Hmmm, not sure if I should just wait it out...or switch it up...

Nope, no change from the other Canidae versions. I actually stopped giving the Solid Gold I was trying to switch them to because of gas and looser stools, went to the Lamb and Rice (which they haven't ever had) Canidae and problem fixed so we've had good luck.

yep!
it's been 2 weeks my boys have the new formula, and their poop are gross yellow smelly loose runny. yuck yuck yuck!
i'd like to stick to it, but it's gross....

no gas though (yeah!) but i prefered the older formula - their poop were super firm with it
