Boxer Buddy
There are these 2 teenage girls (13 and 14) down the block from me, they both have boxers (one male, one female). About a month ago, the girls thought they had a brilliant idea to breed them for extra $$. (yeah you read that right)
They regularly babysit for me, while I was getting ready I heard them talking about how much they should charge for each puppy.. (ok I was eaves dropping). So I asked, "how much for what puppy"? They said they mated thier dogs about a month, and asked if I wanted one..
They knew I was mad, and I asked if thier parents knew.. and nope.. they don't... I seen the momma and yeah, she is definitely pregnant. Her teets are a little bigger (just the nipples) and her belly matches her rib cage (which is normally slightly less than)
After the girls protested, I told thier parents, and they are upset as well. I guess, the parents of the female are really upset because they specifically put up the privacy fence just because they don't believe in spaying or some hubabaloo...
So here is what I pitched to the parents.
Instead of the girls or parents profiting off the sales of these pups, and so there isn't $$ contributing to more backyard breeding. They have a spay/neuter contract drawn up, and return if unwanted clause (I become the guardian of the unwanted, because they do not want to be) and instead of the prospective buyer giving them the $$, they have to come with a dated reciept from a shelter stating a minimum 150.00 donation to that shelter. in order to pick up thier puppy.
Good idea? Otherwise, I feel like these girls are getting what they wanted, and they did a bad deed.
Or if you have any other suggestions, please let me know.. I would love them!
