Boxer Booster
We too, after researching a variety of breeds, selected a Boxer for the exact same reason. No kids of our own but 8 nieces & nephews.

I agree with everything in this thread. The only "problem" (I hesitate to say "problem") is if the kids run in fear. Jingo doesn't recognize fear, she thinks play. Once she scared a 4-yr old niece, who huddled down in a ball & cried (a little over dramatic - we were all watching) and Jingo huddled in a ball across from the hall from her and was miserable! She didn't mean to scare the girl.

Since then, Jingo has matured (some!) and obedience training, she's not as quick to chase unless it's a free for all play session that is! She does have a strong desire to thoroughly clean *all* children's faces and ears!

Milo loves kids too, he's just more reserved. He's so gentle, it's amazing. It's like he "worries" over them.

Super Boxer
All of the boxers my family has had have been great with kids. My youngest sibling is now 20 years old, but the kids in my parents' neighborhood come over to see if Cookie can come out to play :D

The boxer my dad had when he was a kid was the self-appointed protector of all the neighborhood children. Parents couldn't discipline their kids if Cocoa was around, because she would herd the parent away from the kid, and if anyone was threatening harm to the children, watch out, because Cocoa wouldn't hesitate to push them around.

Cocoa lived to be twelve years old, and even as an elderly, arthritic dog was a great friend to all the kids. On the day she was euthanized, my dad stayed home from school to be with her. When my dad's youngest brother Jimmy, eight years old at the time, got home from school and found out she was gone, he ran to her favorite tree and cried for her to come back. Nearly 40 years later, he still tears up when he talks about her.

Completely Boxer Crazy
I loved the link. Gives new meaning to "a picture is worth a thousand words"
I'd say there's "several thousand words" worth there.
Gidget is great with the kids and always has been, even though she knows she's mommys baby.:D
