Boxer Traits

doesn't like snow?

This is to "iwannaboxer" who said their puppy didn't like the snow. Well I live in Houston and we don't get snow here, but my Nuker doesn't like rain or wet ground. She is a big prissy girl about puddles when we are on a walk. She will go around or jump over even shallow puddles on a walk.

On a rainy day when I open the door to let her out to do her business she just looks at me (like yours does) like i'm being mean to try to make her go out.

Of course if she's playing, she has no problem tromping through mud, puddles or whatever.

Rayne's Mom

Completely Boxer Crazy
I have had my girl Rayne home since 3:00 this afternoon, I have to say that at 8 weeks she is already showing the trait of gas :D It was so bad that our other dog Delstar had to leave the couch LOL She is doing wonderful with housetraining, only 1 mistake and it was just a liitle one. Rayne does not seem to mind the snow or ice to get her duty done, then return to the house.
I am looking forward to seeing her kidney bean and to hear her woo woo....... Mandy

KIDNEY BEANING

I've never heard the term "kidney beaning" before - what does that mean? Our boxers Xena (fawn female - 5yrs) and Maximus (brindle male somwhere between 3 and 4yrs) they do what we call theboxer "hula" when we come home - they snore loudly - are pretty gassy - and do most of the other very common traits - they were both adopted a year ago and we couldn't be happier!

Uncommon Trait?

Have my second Boxer boxer pup (now 14 weeks old) that has many of the traits already discussed. It is the second one I have had. But most impressed with how quickly he has been trained. Huge capacity to learn and seems to love it! Been unemployed for some time so I have had a lot of time to give him training and attention.

However, want to describe what my first Boxer. Had her 40 years ago. Displayed 2 traits not discussed thus far. First, she would actually "smile" when very happy. Example, when a family member would return home, she would kidney bean and curl up her jowls in what really looked like a Boxer smile. Could see her teeth. I swear it was a smile! Second, she loved to carry heavy things in her mouth. My mother would take her food shopping to a local grocery store that let her in. She took absolute joy in carrying a bag home and in particular 5 pound bags of potatoes. The local news paper actually a story had pictures of her doing so. A local celebrity. Additionally, I worked as a soda jerk in a drug store about 1/4 mile down the street. My mother would let her out about 9:00 pm nights I was working. She would run down to the drug store, wait for someone to open the door, jump up on one of the stools, and wait for me to put an ice cream cup in a bag. She would take it in her mouth, wait for the door to open again, run home and my mother would give her the ice cream treat.

Exceptional dog, really don't know why I waited so long to get another.

Bucabu actually smiles as well. He loves to have his tummy scratched and if you get him right under his neck and front legs he gets a big ole grin on his face.

When I take my 8 month old Macy for a ride in the car, she will sit in the passenger seat until I get out of the driveway... as soon as I get going down the street, she will put her back feet on the back of the seat with her butt up in the air and lay her head on the dashboard... *SHRUG* Boxers are very mysterious in their ways!!!

my Pepper

Sheesh. I don't know if I could list all her traits. LOL. Snot blowing, affectionate (only to me), loyal, she pouts when I leave her, waiting at the window for me to return> WHen I return she is sooooo happy to see me. Pepper also likes to swim only when she has been running and is hot, but she gladly wades into the water and swims, she hates the pool though. She is eight y.o. but she still jumps our 6 ft fence, loves to ride in the car, and talks to me all the time. SHe is very vocal. It is like she growls at me. Loves soft spots and the floor is not good enough for her. She acts like a person, and would think of herself as anything but. A garbage hound she is, only when I leave her alone. She thinks the toilet is her personal watering faucet. She loves puppies, even though she never had any. Pepper hates cats and loves to chase anything that moves, and killed a deer last year. I was sooooo mad. She only tolerates the bird, which she knows that if she tried anything she would be in trouble. The bird thinks she is a dog. Well, I could go on and on. But that is pepper in a nutshell. I love boxers and love you all for being boxer lovers.

:) i have mentioned jacks traits before in this forum but i forgot to mention jacks continual sniffing of people,
if we have visitors he tries to constantly sniff them.
even when we take him for a walk , if you stop to talk to some one he just sniffs away.he will put his face right on them and smell them continually.even when we call him away he will try and sneak back to do it again.we remove him from the person and tell him NO, but he is obsessed with smelling everyone. i just lovicon my wackicon
