To be honest with you i haven't read all the posts....so forgive me if i'm repeating, but when we got Ali the breeder we got her from gave us a list of boxer traits, here are a few -

BOXER GLOSSARY

Full butt lean - When a boxer comes up on the couch & stands over you while you're watching TV. Front feet on one side and back an the other. Then when they're ready they just throw their backside onto you somewhere between your chest & lap.....as if they're too lazy to stand up.

Heavy Head - When your boxer places their head on your lap...like it's just too heavy for them to hold up

Inverted kidney bean - When a boxer lies on their backs with all fours in the air squirming back & forth

Kidney bean - wiggle from side to side....so heads & bums almost meet....there is a slow & fast version of this!

Life with boxers - is like a box of chocolates - "you never know what you're going to get".....but they're all yummy!

Lip flip - the ability to unknowingly flip the upper lip underneath showing teeth....we call it the tough look (yeah right!!)

Mexican stand off - boxer will suddenly "freeze" & stare at each other face to face not moving until one gives in and pounces.

Mouth wrestling - 2 boxers play by opening their mouths wide & facing off touth to touth.... no biting just lots of noise!

Peanut butter stuck to the roof of the mouth - Where they just lap at nothing...throw head back & lick & lick.

Pile or Stacks on- sleeping arrangement that consists of people & boxers

Sawing logs - when a boxer snores ( & Matt....LOL)

Scooby Doo Run - run on the spot to get started (this one makes me laugh so hard)

Snubble - when your boxer walks beside you and nudges your hand with their snout....usually with accompanied by a grin...can be forceful snubble or gentle snubble

Tongue getting stuck - licking and then pause mid-lick

Transition dog - a dog you own while waiting to own a boxer

Wedge - climbing behind someone and settling down until the boxer has pushed the person of the chair

Wiggle talk - words/phrases that inspire the boxer to wiggle (tone of the voice is important here) ie "Good boy Eric" or "Lets go in the car"

Woo Woo - self explaintory

Yoga Stretch - Butt as high as it will go .... front paws steched in front.

There are heaps more.... but these where the main ones i think!
;)

Thanks for the list Sam and Matt.
We have a Red 4 1/2 year old male "Luther" who has all of these and more.
We hug him hundreds of times a day, and he hugs us back thousands.

Traits

I just wanted to say I had some really good laughs reading about your dogs. This is my first boxer and I absolutely love her to death. We plan on getting another puppy in about a year. I too got my puppy from a newspaper breeder and she is just great.
She has all the same traits described except one I haven't heard mention is that incredibly long tongue that hangs out of her mouth. When she gets tired out come the tongue. I took a picture of her when she was a puppy with it sticking out and thought is would be a unique picture, little did I know her tongue would be sticking out 75% of the time. She is also great with my kids. I have had to get rid of dogs that weren't and she is definitely the best with kids. I would never get another breed again.

P.S. gigi2436 I really like your dogs name - Farley- that's my last name.

Mandi -dob- 10/29/98 - boxer - flashy fawn, cropped ears & docked tail
Frisco -dob-8/1989 - cat
Rambo -hatch date- 4/25/2000 - quaker parrot:p

I love watching my baby run at full speed, it is hysterical. Her lips are flapping, her ears are blown back and it looks as though her rear end is so low to the ground she'll get "ground burns" on her bottom. Also, I love the eyes and the content sigh that she makes. I will have no other breed but the boxer!

Dirty noses

Our Rocky Brown at 12.5 y/o always has a dirty nose. The odd occasion when it is clean we get worried! How about being nosy - whenever I dig the garden or drill a hole his nose is right there. When we had the gas engineer in to fit our gas fires he watched every thing and refused to move until the fire was lit. The only mistake God made was not letting boxers live as long as us.

Traits

My little man has a couple of unusual traits, he likes to drag his bed outside and sit on that rather than sit on the grass.

He also has a tendency to go straight for peoples nipples when playing, I don't know what it is, but male or female, if he is in a playful mood watch out :)

I love my little man :)

Our pup is Southpaw! She'll be four months on the 3rd of Feb. She's the biggest Mama's girl in the world. So lovable!:D She does all of the crazy things listed above. Sometimes I could sware she's nuts. It's nice to know that others experience the same things we do.

My boxer does have the common traits, like:
*Laying on carpet with legs back like frog
*Jumping like a nut with his paws out in front, like a boxer!
*Hating puddles
*Eating the dust broom
*Drags his feet
*Likes to lay his head on the pillow at night
*Puts paws under door and wines when we shut the bathroom door
*After I take him out in the morning, he runs on the couch and rolls around on his back - EVERY MORNING
*LOVES tennis balls
*Elevating his head anywhere he can when he lays
*Sniffs the snow...like crazy!
*Has to have EVERYTHING our other dog has. If he's laying all nice, and our other dog has something, he has to go get it from our other dog and take it away. AND, if my other dog has raw hide, my boxer will wine and bark forever, until he can get it away. The only time he barks is if it's at my other dog!

But, there are a few wierd ones:
*His obsessions with squirrles!!!! He can't wait to get outside and hunt them down. One day he ran head on with one and stood there stunned. He will actually run after one and try to climb the tree..that's his biggest trait!
*Second biggest trait, obsessed with wheels! If we move the wagon, he freaks out trying to eat the wheels and wines like a mad dog! Anything with wheels he freaks!
*He actually loves the blowdryer. I blow dry him when I'm doing my hair and he loves it..he barks and jumps but loves it!
*Lastly, I have to mention his bad trait. Although he's mostly house trained now, when he has and does urinate in the house, he has to run while he's doing it so it gets everywhere...walls, doors, anywhere and everywhere. It's so difficult to clean!!!!!

My boxer is not the typical boxer I think. One thing I did notice is that she will not be bossed, which is I hear a big trait. She does kidney bean but she barely makes a sound, never mind the woo woo song. She is also very shy and not very protective. She loves playing with other dogs and with the cats and loves children.:p

my male boxer Thorn lies on his back and rolls around the floor, swings rope toys around his head to music, barks at candle shadows and always wants to play ball when we sit down to watch a dvd. He also likes to watch out of our bay window, then bark at old ladies or young children who walk past. He then has to check round the back door to make sure they have not tried to get in. he also is very clumbsy as he does not stop if his toy goes into a wall and he is always treading on our toes. He is also a great snorer.
