woo woo & biting!

I think that I have finally figured out what you are saying about "woo woo" ing. Niko does that only when I 'whine' I will whine just to get her to do it. If hubby is getting me, she will woo woo .. like get away my mommy! Then the girls will hear and then they will get into it. My youngest has found that if she howls, Niko will howl along with her. I have also got her to 'tickle' the girls. She will nibble softly under their arms, necks, and bum/thigh area and it DOES tickle ALOT. She will go at it forever until they run off to hide. My husband claims he is not ticklish, but once she did it to him, and she had him rolling and crying to get away! She also loves to get your hands/feet under the blankets. If you move them slighly she will bite them. She loves to bite your feet and 'woo woo' telling you to give up, she got you! She also gets huge pimples on her chin. This Christmas she got a HUGE one on her muzzle, it looks so painful. She ended up scratching the scab off, what a mess! We will hide when we see daddy coming up the drive. Niko never wants to hide, but then daddy always asks "where are the girls?" and she will rat us out everytime!

My little baby girl is still pretty young to show all of these traits, but I have to say that she has adopted quite a few of them so far.

Reading these posts was a great way to end my otherwise stressful day...thanks everyone!!

Hi everyone this is my first time posting, and I just had to because I love this subject. I feel that Boxers have the most humerous traits I have every seen. My baby does have all of the same traits as Cooper, but I was wondering if any of your babies do the boxer bend. When I walk in the door, Riley doesn't jump he bends his body in half, and wags his whole behind. I hear boxers are famous for this move. I also call Riley an abnormal boxer because I was told boxers hate to swim and avoid barking unless it is necessary. However, Riley has a barking problem. He looks us right in the eye and will bark and bark and bark until he gets what ever it is he wants. He also loves to swim. He is pretty good at it too. What do you guys think.

I didn't know boxers didn't like to swim, Max loves the water and doesn't hesitate to jump in, without thinking first, which led to my daring Shenandoah River rescue last spring when the water was high, we both learned an important lesson that day - Max will probably forget, but mommy never will.

BUT - Max rarely barks - only in the privacy of his own home or backyard (has to be family only) and only when he is real excited. You will never see him bark when he is out in public. Leo appears to be the same way. Shay on the other hand never shuts up - he is the loudest dog I've ever met - and nothing I've tried (that I've been trained in) works for him. He thinks it's funny and runs away out of my reach when I come out there to discuss it with him. So, that coupled with a few other obedience issues that I'm having with him - we are off to clicker training in a couple of weeks. I've never heard of this type of traning before and just when I was at the end of my rope w/ Mr. Shay, I had 5 different people - none of them I knew previously - all tell how wonderful clicker training was. So I signed up. I'm keeping my fingers crossed.

I have yet to own a boxer that does not sit in front of the kitchen sink or the oven/range. BUT.........this only done when you need to in these spots right at that moment.

When I was in high school I live across the street from a serial rapist and killer. Of course we didn't know this, but Hans did! Everytime this boy came over to the house Hans would stand in front of me with hackles up! Two years after our graduation he was caught. Thank God, but I will never forget Hans' intuition. I possibly saved my life. I have seen a boxer literally sacrifice himself to save a human life and I truly believe any one of my three precious babies would do it for my family.

Her protectiveness and intuition is something I truly love about my boxer. People laugh when I tell them that Cookie is the ultimate judge of character, but it's true. If she doesn't like someone, I keep my distance.

When I was in my freshman year of college, I was home for winter break and had some friends coming to visit. A young man tagged along with my friends, and when he came through the front door, Cookie raised her hackles and started barking like I'd never heard her bark before. She even attempted to jump OVER the railing of the stairs to get him. Some time later, I ended up in a situation where this guy was around and my dog wasn't. He held me at gunpoint for reasons still unknown to me. I was able to get away unharmed, and to this day I trust my dog absolutely.

Max and Shay both run behind mommy when they get in trouble from Dad and attempt to hide there. If I correct Max he hides under the bed for awhile and sulks, then he'll come out and put his arms around me and hugs and a little kiss on my hair, then he starts nibbling my ear and then he starts nibbling my neck and shoulders and then he starts nipping and when I squeal because it hurts, he starts mock growling and wrestling and dances away.

Don't you just love how they.... Kiss Up!!!!! Jax does this too, but he comes in and just starts kissing my hands & face.Than stands over me. Like just cause he is kissing me it is all better. The kissing last for about a half hour though....

All 3 of them are terrible at kissing up! Leo, the new guy, loves to carry things around - shoes, socks, stuff animals, you name it. He'll just wander through the house with something he knows he's not supposed to have and when you look at him he stops with whatever is in his mouth and just looks at you like "what??" and I make him give it up and he looks down at the ground and then leans into my leg and just "lays" there. Tooooo cute.

I thought Max was the only one that does that "nibbing" thing (kind a like a nibble), he loves to hug and "nib" and usually just with his lips until he gets bored then he nips.

Yes, Bailee "kidney beans" like crazy. (bending in half) Everytime you come in the door, it's like the first time in days! She used to jump, but we corrected that, but she still leans against you and wiggles her heart away. Haven't tried swimming yet, but she loves running water, little "splash" pool in the summer, the beach, and baths. Would be interesting to see if she would swim.
Bailee more talks to us than barks when she wants something, or mostly to play. I guess it's part "woo woo". She can sound really mean when growling or barking. As far as outside barking, she only "low growls" when seeing someone new (when in car or on leash) but allows approach if we're ok with it. In her yard, only barks when appropriate - and stops when asked to or comes inside. Does riley stop when you ask him to? When Bailee was younger, we had a small cow bell we would ring when she did naughty things. She didn't like it, and we really don't have to use it much anymore. I guess a "clicker" trainer would do the same thing. How old is Riley? Good luck!

yess... the boxer pounce - what a good word. Bailee is a year, and yes her paws HURT! She doesn't jump up on us (unless invited to in play) anymore, but she will pounce and lean on you with her shoulder until you bowl over! She also gets "pushy" with her toys. She isn't so polite to lay them by you, 1st base is to push them on your shoulder, leg, face - whatever's closer! Loves to play box with daddy. Yes, great breed - don't know what took us so long to discover the breed - was quite by accident and not design! Have fun
