Boxer Traits

All these traits here too...

Dallas is just like all the others on here. She has many things I find amusing, but can't type all of them or it would be a story!:D First thing- Can anyone in here actually suceed in sweeping and mopping before you get charged and dragged? Dallas will take them and run throwing them around and I will chase her around trying to get my stuff back while my husband leans back laughing so hard!
Second thing- Oh My, this one is wacky wackicon if I ever saw another do this I would feel so much better. When it is outside time she whines at the door and as soon as I get the leash she is rampaging through the house barking and nudging everyone like we are all supposed to go together. She jumps over the couch and the chair just circling the house and finally decides she has let everyone have their chance to come and lets me put on her leash. When we get out there she runs at least 50 circles around me before she topples over on the ground  and eats some grass!
Third- NEVER EVER TAKE A SHOWER IN MY HOUSE WITH THE DOOR OPEN... NO MATTER WHO YOU ARE! Dallas is bound to jump right on in and have a hay of a day in the tub with you. My friend stayed the night over to babysit her and my daughter while we left for 2 days and she did this so she could hear my little one just in case and BOY she learned her lesson!
And she scares everyone new in the house with her so-called "flea bites" even my husband can't get used to them, but she just gets soooo excited!

Dempsey has almost all the the traits mentioned but there are two that he's got that I know many other boxers have. I can't believe I haven't read anyone mention either one yet. They're paper eating and puppy dreams. Every night it's a race between Dempsey and myself to see who'll get the paper napkins off of the dinner table first. He'll try and sneak up and steal one if I missed it while clearing the dishes. And as for puppy dreams, I find it so funny when he's sound asleep but his paws are moving and he's making muffled barks. Something between a real bark and woo woo's. I just know he's caught that squirrel, or paid back that momma blue jay that pecked at his head last spring.

Yes! Paper eating for sure. How old is your puppy? Bailee is 10 weeks, and is just now able to reach coffee table. She pulls down anything paper and starts in. Also, puppy dreams. I worried for a bit that she might have seizures, but it's obvious its dreams now. (she runs an awful lot in her dreams) She usually ends up making nursing noises and then "passing gas" just before awakening from naps. Have fun with Dempsey!

My Sasha is the same as Robyn's Cooper... the funniest thing is her running like a mad thing. We call it her time trials. Resting her head on my lap is another favourite. A constant source of love and amusement.

Common Traits

Delaney is my first boxer. She blows raspberries, something we are trying to encourage, frog legs, gas, kidney bean/boxer wiggle, face on lap after drinking water, and finally back feet that never touch the ground when running at full speed!

Biscuit shares all of these traits. She is also known for protecting my husband and I from the very evil vaccume cleaner. she growls jumps on it bites it and just plain old hates it. She is even known to have her lips and tounge sucked into it when my husband has the carpet attachment off and is just using the hose. The funny thing is I think she loves it!! she also loves being pulled around the house by an old sock in her mouth with one or two beagles on the other end. she lies on her side and lets them pull her around the house. Her favorite though is annoying the neighbors rotty. She grabs audra's hind leg pulls it out from under her and then runs in circles around her while audra barks and growls at her. Bis weighs in at 45-50 pounds and audry is probably 120 pounds or so. I told her she's lucky audry is too slow and too good tempered to catch her but that i'm not going to feel sorry for her when she does. After what she went through as a pup last summer with the chow I thought she would be afraid of other dogs guess not!!

Our 2 lady boxers are so different from each other. Scarlet the 5 year old plain fawn lays at the top of the stairs and hangs her head over the edge like she is draining her sinus'. Melanie, the baby, gives all sorts of great kisses while she puts her paw on your shoulders and finishes by nibbling your ear. She also does the running thing, but my sister and I think she looks more like she is trying to dodge the snippers. I'm away at college right now, but when I home on break she always sneaks into my bed when she is let out of her crate in the morning. While I'm at school, I told that she still does the same thing even though someone is sleeping in the next room, she preferes my bed.

Thank God to hear that all of your boxers seem to do all the things that Arokh does. If he isn't laying on his back or on me he too likes to lay on his tummy with legs out streched behind him. Someone told me that they do this because it feels good on their hips (who cares, it's cute). He will also suddenly dart around the house when bored, chase his tail (not docked), play with toys and of corse chew on dads toes, socks or no socks. I don't know if he does this to get you attention or if he likes the taste and texure. I think it's cute, his dad dosen't. It's just nice to hear that we're not alone and wondering if all these things are normal.

My best friend, also a boxer lover, got her first two twenty years ago. The boys were litter-mates, Malcolm and Rodney. As they got older, they developed the kidney bean thing, worrying my friend who had never seen this and thought it was abnormal. She took them to the vet and complained that whatever had caused it was obviously contagious because they both did it.

Does your Boxer baby do this?

Mackie loves to sleep at the foot of my bed and under the covers...How does he breath? He also does an elaborate circle dance when I come home from work. I look forward all day to the way he greets me. Mackie is a leaner and is famous at the dog park for greeting everyone at the gate and then leaning into them as he is petted. He is far more interested in people than other dogs! Christine
