I'm so sorry that your friend is going through this, please let her know that she is in my thoughts and prayers. At the same time, I'm glad that Autry is going to make his new home with you. Best of luck to all of you!

I went out this weekend looking for fenced areas to which I can take Autry. Most of them are posted as no trespassing.
I did find a practice football field at the local high school (~ 5 miles from here) that was fenced and had no postings prohibiting doggie play.
I cannot wait to adopt Autry. He will help fill a huge void on our life since Petey went to the bridge. Holden's Mom is equally (if not more) excited. As noted by many on this board, the only negative is the new void that our friend and Autry's mom will have. We consider this a great opportunity for us and a new responsibility to not only be good parents to Autry, but good communicators to our friends in Indiana so they can continue to enjoy his life from afar.

Wow, I don't know how I missed this thread! I am SO happy for the both of you, and for Autry! It is sad that your friend has to rehome him, but how wonderful that she can rest assured that he will have a great life with you. He is beautiful - I looked at all the pics and got a lump in my throat when I saw the one of Pete and Autry together. Yes, your Petey probably had a paw in this!! Congratulations, and may you and Autry have many happy years together.

He will be coming to live with us on January 30th. We are very excited and busy getting the house ready for this energetic boy. I will keep y'all posted.
And yes, I am sure Petey is smiling knowing we miss him and his doggie energy. He liked Autry, and he loved Autry's mom. He would want both to be happy.
