are boxers chewers?

do boxers have a problem with chewing stuff in the house or no? i know every dog is different but i was just wondreing in general if boxers are known for chewing up stuff in the house (other than toys)

My boxer definitely is a chewer - but with proper training, you can curb that habit.

Both of mine have been destructive chewers during their youth, which can run until they are about 3 yrs. old. You just have to put things away that you don't want to be chewed, and supervise them closely when you are home, and crate them when you are away. Or put them in a dog-proofed room when you are away.

Cin has only had that problem when no one is home.. she has separation anxiety and gets into everything. Other than that she only things she chews apart are her toys. You just have to make sure things are put away when theyre not being supervised...also theyre good escape artists and in turn can open doors. She gets the hall closet door open when were gone and pulls stuf fout and chews on it. She's gated in the hallway connecting the kitchen and living room soe the closet is in that area.

They can chew..but I would like to reiterate what someone else already mentioned, with proper care & training, you can avoid costly mistakes. I also believe that you should give them PLENTY of things they are allowed to chew on. This way they can still do the chewing they need/want to do without doing it on something they are not suppose to.

Oskar wasn't bad at all. I made sure he had plenty of kongs, bones, and chew toys. He did get a hold of my glasses once and chewed them but that was my fault. If you don't want a chewer make sure you have plenty of toys and dog proof your home. Also, Oskar is crated during the day so there isn't any times he can get distructive. A bored boxer is a destructive boxer.

Chewing

We have never had a problem with Cooper chewing anything...not even once! He is not much of a toy lover, although he does have them available... he really just wants to be as close to us as possible. He only likes the toy if we are holding it. I have never found anything that he has chewed up. I guess that is kind of uncommon!

Growing up, Jacob would chew anything in his path. We would have to seriously puppy proof the house when we went anywhere (up until he was like 6yrs). Since we moved, he has been super. We haven't had any chewing incidents, EXCEPT my glasses. He chewed them twice!!! Once two years ago on New Years Eve (had to buy new ones) and not so long ago (able to bend frames back but needed new lenses). Jacob would only chew things when he was alone in the house. If you crate your dog when you're not home, I don't see chewing as being a problem.

Chewing

Yes, Lola is a chewer also. She will chew anything in her path. From shoes to cable to furniture, my hands, etc... She has plenty of her own stuff to chew but seems to like the stuff she is not supposed to chew. We redirect her a lot and never leave her alone where she can get in trouble. If she cannot be supervised she is in her crate where she is safe and sound.

I don’t think the Boxers have a problem with chewing, but this owner sure does. I think it is mainly separation anxiety. My Jewel has eaten / destroyed, two complete manicure kits, 2 TV remotes, a small digital travel clock, two paper back books, printer ink cartridge box, various magazines, the electric wires to the deck lights and has spilled a cup of coffee on my computer while looking for other stuff to chew. She never does it when I am in the same room with her and she seems to do a lot of it to get even for being left alone for a short time. And she is not yet 2 years old. I have finally learned to pick things up if I want to keep them. But my older Boxer has never done any thing like that.
