Foster homes that have senior boxers will tell you that the rewards are great! If you can get past the number, the payoff will be great in terms of love and happiness.
It's so misleading that people think a younger dog will live longer. That leads to so much dissapointment. I have seen...
I agree 100%!!! I have two males and a female and they do well together. BUT I adopted my second as an adult and was sure their personalities would go well together. Going through Rockin P is a wonderful choice as they could help you choose a good match for your boy. If for some reason you...
I just read the rest of the posts and saw that your vet used ACE on a boxer. I would definitely not take this vet's advice on ACE or that neutering wouldn't help. )o:
Please let me say that if he's this much to handle, first of all he's not got a disposition to choose to pass on. I've had many young males in my house with rescue and sure this is the age they are acting up but so many were not a handful at all. Choosing a dog to be bred depends of rigorous...
Oh my no, there are no responsible rescues that would let a dog go unaltered. Masses of young, healthy purebred dogs are being put down regularly and it would be wreckless and go against trying to save dogs lives if they let one contribute to the overpopulation problems.
Much of what I have read talks about conditioning them to be able to be left. Putting her in the crate for thirty seconds without crying and slowly working up. So slow that she doesn't cry. If she does, cut the time in half and work back up. This takes putting her in and out many times a...
I have two males and a female. My males are great together. Just to be sure they got along, I adopted an adult male and knew from the start that they'd get along. You hear so much about puppies growing up and having trouble with the adult in the household especially with female issues so just...
My vet lets them come home after a spay or neuter. They do not have 24 hour techicians so home is the best place. And they recover so well.
Happy healing!
I've read this question before and thought I would share about two litters I found out about this weekend. It is a contrast in breeding practices.
The first I found while inquiring of a friend who shows boxers if she knew of any health tested litters for another friend looking. Yes. A...
I think I understand you to mean the meal right before you switch to raw?
Yes, I did this. One night they had kibble. The next morning a meal mostly of yogurt and I think I gave them some sweet potatoes or pumpkin (can't recall but remember a meal of mostly yogurt). That night for dinner...
I read in your post you mentioned that she came home at about seven weeks which indicates she came from a back-yard breeder. Not to scare you but someone that would let her leave that early and didn't insist on meeting you who would own her isn't breeding the healthiest of dogs. I would do...
Congratulations!
I have adopted four along the years and still have three with me. I can't imagine every not adopting! It is so rewarding of course for the boxer who desperately needs a great life but so very rewarding to be the adored parent of a rescued boxer!!!
Adding my most recent...
Ask the people who lost their boxers to these cancers that could have been avoided by neutering their pet. To them, it was 100% the wrong choice to leave the dogs intact. With a breed known for cancer issues, I actually see no arguement at all, any pet dogs in my household will always be loved...
