anyone with a male/male combo?

i have asked a similar question before but we are considering getting another boxer (of course we arent getting on until maverick gets to be about 1 year old and we have plenty of money to support these high dollar babies.) . We want another male but im just wondering who all has 2 males and how do they act? i know people say female/male are best but we really want another male. thanks

I have 2 males and at one point we had 3 males. Only one is a boxer (3 yrs & 65 lbs) and the other is a lab (6 yrs and 100 lbs) (the third was a 15 year old Lhasa Apso). All are fixed. We adopted the boxer at 1 1/2 years and it did take my lab almost 2 weeks to be warm and fuzzy with him, but they are the best of friends now and play fantastic together. I think you really need to look at their personalities in addition to gender. I am no professional, but I too love my boys and when the time comes I'm pretty sure we'll get another male.

Most of the boxer owners I've met have more than one - and they are all males! I've met lots of females, but they are usually the only dog in the family. Most males are supposed to get along okay.

im sure we will get another male i just wanted other peoples opinions on 2 males. we will just have to be calm with them and have patients. i know if maverick is big he will not be rough with a little puppy.

We have two males, one is not a boxer though and he was about 12 when we brought Titan into our home. They have lived together over a year and have never fought over anything. They aren't really good friends, they both kind of do their own things during the day- I would guess age difference is the key there. But at night they sleep by each other and the older dog now relies on Titan to be the guard dog b/c his eyesight and hearing aren't as good as Titan's is.
My brother has 3 females (a boxer, bulldog, and a beagle mix) and they do not get along at all. The boxer and bully do but the beagle hates both of the other two. But the bulldog and boxer try to outdo each other for attention. Lot of dominance and fights between the three girls. Personally I'd rather have males too, but that's just me. Things seem a lot calmer at our house than at my brothers.

see thats my thing i have a male and he is calm (most of the times) and my SIL has a female and she is so hyper all the time. she growls alot at maverick when they are playing, shes just playing but still. i know we will get a male definately. i want to enjoy mavericks puppy stages and i dont want to take away from him right now. so we will definately get another in the future.

Hi there~I have a 2 1/2 year old male and a 4 mos. old male ~ we debated for a long time over the male/male thing too! My husband really prefers the male. They are wonderful together. My 2 year old (Dude) is so good with him. We haven't had any problems yet, although Cooper is still so young???????? I'll keep my fingers crossed!

We have two flashy fawn males. Siris is 2.5 y.o. and Simeon is 4.5 months old. They love each other. They play, cuddle, and sleep right next to each other. We chose two males because females seem to be more "alfa" than males. Siris is a big (100 lbs.) gentle love bug. Simeon is the opposite in every way. He runs around alot, barks alot, chews alot, and is alot more hyper. He is a love too though. We like males better. Si is nuetered, Sim will be. They love each other. Good luck.

Growing up, my family always had at least 3 boxers (one for me, my mom and my sister, LOL, my dad and brother were mostly spectators in the crazy boxer house) and 2 were always males. For the most part, there were no problems, but if a female down the road or something went into heat, the boys would sometimes fight, even though they were both neutered. And, right now I have 2 male fosters, Bosco and Bain. They get along fine, though it is obvious that Bosco is the alpha of the two. They don't compete or fight over my unaltered female, Roxy, actually, everybody is getting along fantastically! Which was kinda a surprise to me, I thought I would have some problems, but I've had Bosco for about 2 1/2 months, and I've had Bain for about 3 weeks and (knock on wood) there haven't been any issues. I have two males and a female. My males are great together. Just to be sure they got along, I adopted an adult male and knew from the start that they'd get along. You hear so much about puppies growing up and having trouble with the adult in the household especially with female issues so just one more benefit to the lost list of why I adopt from rescue. None of my boxers are intact which is definitely another plus.
