Case was his name when he was previously owned. Everyone in the neighborhood knew who he was. All the kids called him Casey. When we took him in, it just seemed right to keep his name. I wanted to make the transition as smooth as possible. I walked him by his old house and he looked for a moment, and just kept on up the street. Now he doesn't even stop and notice. I don't think he was very traumatized by the switch of families.

If I did name him, I kind of like Maximus. A good strong name.

Chopper30

From Stand By Me

I had Chopper for close to a week, before finally coming up with his name. While my g/f was on the internet spitting out suggested names, and I was going through the phone book to come up with ideas, my Dad asked what my favorite movie is. (He named his first boxer Sundance after Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid). I said that I have always like Stand By Me (with River Phoenix and Corey Feldman...it is based on the kids walking along a railroad track, with the purpose of finding a dead kid at the end of their journey). Well, in the movie, there is a dog named Chopper, who protected a junk yard. It was rumored that the junkyard owner would not only yell, "Chopper, sick em", but "Chopper, sick balls". RIGHT, when I was telling this to my g/f, Chopper lunged forward and got me right in the crouch! That, and my love for riding, made Chopper a great name for my boxer.

It's a south side Irish thing,
much cleaner than the names suggested by the teenage sons
and it gets his attention.
But I don't like the spelling "Seamus" and I call him Shae a lot... so I changed the spelling to Shaemus.
However he will look up when we say "You Dingus.., look what you did!" :)

It can get confusing when the neighbor's dog is out cause he
is "Shamrock aka Shammy". Shammy and Shaemus.... and sit and stay.
whew.

Leila after Mohammed Ali's daugher Leila, the female boxer. We thought we were original and then we met 3 Leila boxers in our town within a few months of getting our baby.

We named our "baby" Rocco Pugile (poojeelee). Pugile is "boxer" in Italian and Rocco was the name of my great-grandpa who came to America from Italy during the 1920's. Of course he has a million nick names - Rock, Rockstar, Rockabilly, Pooper Scooper and my favorite - Sweet Baby!

MyJoy

Boxer Buddy
I came up with Joy because my boyfriend at the time was going through a hard time in his family, his mom was sick, so he had to move to California unexpectedly, i went to see him to either say goodbye to him or see if I also wanted to move there...while I was there making this decision we got Joy, when we went to "just take a look" she ran full speed across the yard, into my boyfriends arms and immediately went to sleep in his arms...we were shocked but knew we were keeping her!
on the way home we were thinking of names, i said stinky because she immediately passed gas within 5 minutes in the car and she smelled because she was covered in puppy slobber from her brothers...then it was Trinity, Angel, Blanca, and then i said "Joy" and he was like that's it...we went through another 50 or so names but it always went back to Joy...the name is perfect for her, everyone loves her, the boyfriend is gone but she's still with me when technically it was his dog...i have more "dog-sitting" offers than i know what to do with...everyone wants to be around her!!

georgie'smom

Boxer Buddy
Her name is Georgie

Georgie got her name due to the fact that we were supposed to get a male. There were only 3 pups in her litter 2 females and 1 male and the owner kept the male. "His" name was going to be Patton after Gen Patton due to the fact my hubby is a history major and Patton is one of his favorite Generals and Patton just wouldn't work for a girl so she's Georgie and he still got to name "his dog" after Gen George Patton.

ty ty's mama

Almost a Bettis

We named Bettis after Jerome Bettis of the Pittsburgh Steelers. We're no doubt big fans! I wanted to name him Raliegh, but he's just such a tough looking beauty! And who's tougher than "the Bus"!!!

Patriots fans need not reply....(just joking!!!!)

I was really close to naming Tyson "Bettis" for the same reason! I stopped short of doing that only because my husband can't control himself watching the game and routinely calls out players names. Usually followed with a "what are you doing?!?!?" The poor thing would have been so confused!

Tyson was our second boxer and we wanted something that could be shortened if needed. Hubby alays calls him "son" and I call him Ty. Our newest addition is Holly, because it feels like we're getting a Christmas present in October!

Ingrid

Boxer Booster
Our boxer's name was almost a given. If she was going to be a boy it would have been Boggie, if she was going to be a girl it would have been Elsa..she turned out to be a girl, so that was a done deal. Boggie and Elsa come from the old movie Casablanca, of which we're big fans of. (humphrey bogart and ingrid bergman star in it.) :)
