Why'd you name your boxer that?

I named mine Tyson, and you won't believe how many other boxers that frequent my vet are also named Tyson... Guess that's proof that there's no originality left in the world. :)

we wanted to name our dog after a known boxer, but we wanted to pick one that matched boxers personality funny, cocky and "in your face" so we thought and thought and came accross Prince Naseem Hassad. A boxer that always found humor in the ring, just like our baby does anywhere he goes.

My six year old son named him when we brought him home. It was pretty ironic that he picked that name because my Father god rest his soul used to call me that when I was a kid. So its special to me in more ways than one.

Originally Cash was to be named Ruger (german hunting rifle) But we decided on cash because we saved up our money to buy him and He is also named after the man in black Johnny Cash.

We named our pup "Blitz". According to websites it means lightning or flash in German. It describes him well because he often has little flashes or moments of energy and darts around for a bit then crashes. We thought of Titan, Tyson, Lance, and Axel too. We figured Tyson was too common, Titan was a close second too.

TaTanka

On June 14th, I had to put my most cherished service animal/constant companion Tuff E. Nuff (E. stood for his brindle "eyebrow") to rest. A few days later my youngest brother, and closest sibling was taken from us in a freak accident. My little brother, "Bomber" actually had given me Tuffy as a puppy. So I figure they are together on the "other side".... Bomber dearly loved Tuffy, and called Tuff the "Great White Dope!" lol
When at my little brothers wake, my older brother suprised me with a little white male boxer of 12wks old. My older brother knew it would be awful for me to head home (from Florida where most all my family lives) to my home in Arizona, with no Tuffy to be there with me, and missing family in a tough time like this..
Well.. the little white guy ended my route by flight back home, as he was too tall to travel coach on the plane... Soooo He and I rode back to Arizona with my older brother and his wife, they drive a big rig that is more like a Motor home! I had thought about a name, and knew that his AKC name would be in honor of my little brother, and Tuffy... I create Native American art, and the White Buffalo is very spiritual... "TaTanka" means White Buffalo..
Soooo beings my little guy is white.. That did it! He became
"Bomber's Great White TaTanka" And we call him TaTanka...
NOW the fun begins.. to figure out a name for our little girl... whom just arrived last Saturday at 7wks old... She's adorable, and will recieve a name that fits her... But regardless, she will also be a "Bomber's Great White >>>>>" Something!
Feels good to know they carry the names of two extremely precious beings that live on in my heart and spirit....

Trying to make a long story short. . . . .
When I first met my husband, one of the things that I really liked about him was that he called me Darlin'. (He's from Tennessee - lol). I thought it was sweet. From day one, I'd wanted a puppy but he kept convincing me to put it off. Eventually, I got him to make a deal that the next time he got sent to overseas (he was in the Air Force) for more than 3 months, I got to get the puppy to protect me and keep me company.
:o)
The day before we were supposed to leave for our HONEYMOON, he got sent to Iraq AGAIN and at that point, he gave me the option of honeymooning we he got back or getting the puppy and OF COURSE I chose the puppy.

Thus: Darlin Honeymoon Knapp - Darlin for short.

Sometimes it really fits her but others it couldn't be further from the truth!

Chloe reminded me of the character "Chloe" on the TV show "24" - she is kind of mousy and she can be down-right nasty when she wants to be - she is also smart.

We let our 28 month old daughter name our dog. She chose Wags, from the wiggles. I think when we were going to pick Wags up she thought that we were actually going to go get the dog from the show. The name has grown on me especially after seeing how much our girl Wags, wags her tail.

We couldn't agree on any names with the kids. They wanted all the disney names or neighbors dogs names:LOL: So since we are a huge football fan family, we went with our two favorite teams!!! That is how we got Buckeye and Steeler:)
