Why you named your Boxers what you did?

Puppy names

We have 2 9mo. male pups Raider & Tank.
I had been wanting another boxer for along time but my husband wasn't crazy about the idea of another boxer in the house. (We already had one 8yr. male "Baxter") My husband is a huge Oakland Raiders fan - so I kinda coaxed him, saying "wouldn't it be fun to have a dark brindle boxer called Raider?" He finally agreed - we went to the breeder's home to pick out a puppy but we couldn't decide between 2 of them. (They played so cute together and were inseperable!) So it was my husband that said, "We will have to get them both!" He had fallen for both of these puppies, and I was so excited! It took us a few days to figure out want to name the second puppy - but it became clear when we noticed that he just plowed over everything in his path, just like a tank!
So now we have 3 - and we have lots of boxer fun!

Our "Duke"

Our fourteen year old "baby" is named Duke. We got him as a puppy and my husband is a HUGE John Wayne fan, so we were already thinking of something from one of his movies. Even as a pup, our boy had huge paws and a massive chest, so he seemed more like Wayne himself (even the way he walked), than any of his charachters! Duke was also the biggest of the litter, which we luckily had our pick from (since his mother belonged to MY mother). His name has been very fitting, because he is such a gentle giant!

My husband chose Abbie and when we adopted Jake his name was Rolo to hard to get out and just did'nt seem to fit. I love chosing names it fun to see if they fit their names as they grow up.

Although Angel does not sound like a very original name () I first saw her when she was a few days old and I remember holding her for the first time and I just kept saying "What a little Angel." I had great fun with her reg'd name "She's no Angel" LOL

We called our puppy Tia after my favourite liqueur Tia Maria : )

We liked "Beatrix" when we first heard it in a movie and thought it would be cute to give our future puppy the nickname "Bea". Since then, we found out that Beatrix is a strong German name so we like that it goes with her heritage. I also found out that it means "bringer of joy" and she certainly is that!

Gardulla The Hutt

I, being a gigantic Star Wars geek, wanted to name our little girl after someone from the movies. We ended up chosing Gardulla the Hutt because that was the only name my old lady liked out of all of the ones I suggested. Coincidentally, we got her on the day Star Wars came out on DVD!

I am dog sitting my nephew's boxer while he is in the army. So far 9 months. Anyway his mom is very religious and told not to name his dog anything evil. NOTE to parents never tell you 19 year old not to do something, they will do it just because. He name her Diabla. We call her Dee. She is so sweet. I have to admit it is fun watching people when the ask what her name is. I get alot of Do you know what Diabla means. For anyone who does know it is spanish for she devil.

Lael means "unto God". That is why she is named Lael.

When we knew we were going to get a boxer we started to kick around names but nothing that really stuck. I really liked the name Kramer (from Seinfeld)and we thought that would be the name. However when we went to get him he didn't "look" like a Kramer. My husband remembered that Kramers first name was Kosmo.
Of course when he has done something wrong he is Kosmo Kramer.

Too funny - our cat's name is Cosmo (also after Kramer.) I was debating the name Newman, but nobody liked Newman on Seinfeld so we passed on that one! We usually call him Coz, or Cozzie.

We named our first cat after Marge's mom on the Simpsons: Mrs. Bouvier

We are in the process of adopting a boxer from a rescue org. If they know the name, we won't change it to avoid confusing the dog. If we do pick a name, we have a few ideas:

Blue for a male (mainly since we love Labatt Blue beer, !)

Bella Donna or Gypsy for a girl (because I am an obsessive Fleetwood Mac/Stevie Nicks fan!) Of course, BF may not agree with the girl names - we'll have to negotiate!
