Why you named your Boxers what you did?

Hooligan our first Boxer was named by my husband after a song which I think was by "The Smiths" and it was very fitting as he was a Hooligan as a pup and even ocassionaly as he got older.

Finnegan is an Irish name which I chose, I am from Ireland and miss home so I like to surround myself with Irish things, and Finnegan just happens to mean white haired one which is very fitting as Finnegan is white.

I wanted to give her a name that sounded regal and classy, because that's how I like to think of her. I really wanted a mythical name but couldn't find one that suited her. After much deliberation and a few arguments with the hubby, we came up with Myah de Chomp - as a joke, but Myah is her real name.

It's ironic because our other dog was named after the 'then' famous boxer Mike Tyson .

I am a huge Greatful Dead fan and I knew I wanted to name my dog after one of their songs. I decided on Lucy, because I knew she would be "my delight!":D

i named kneesaa...well kneesaa b/c i wanted her to have a unique name...hehe..which it is...her vet keeps saying kaneesa...im like no kneesaa...like your knee...hehe...oh well...that's what i get!

My son named Angel.. She was supposed to be his dog.. But she's a mommies girl.. I guess he just liked Angel.. I named Kinja because I am partial to K or C names.. *like my kids* And Kinja is a mythological Island in a Jimmy Buffet song.. And boy does it fit him.. He is very "out there"

My hubby came up with the name Chewy, but I don't know where he got it. It fits him perfectly (unfortunately), because Chewy *still* chews up everything in sight - including our furniture.

I struggled over a name for Emma for a looong time. I wanted something old fashioned but sweet and innocent sounding - and still kind of unusual. When the name Emma popped in my head I knew it was perfect. My mom thought I should have saved the name for a skin kid, though. Oh well.

Also struggled over a name for Stella. We almost named her Annie, Katie, or Gracie. But my Mom insisted that I save Gracie for a skin kid, cuz it's a family name. I begrudgingly said ok. Then I was set on Annie, but later I decided it didn't seem as special as the name Emma was (we had just lost our Emma 2 weeks earlier), and I knew I needed to give my new baby just as wonderful a name - and still old fashioned. Then I remembered that a couple we knew a while back had named their boxer baby Stella, and I always loved the name. We never see them anymore, so I just decided to go with it.

I named Louie after his daddy. When we bought him, his sire's name was L&L's King Louie. So, my boyfriend Josh and I named him J&J's Prince Louie.


But someone earlier spoke of how he is a Grateful Dead fan? Well, I just wanted to tell another Boxer name story that is kind of similar. My friend's boxer's name was Magnolia. Maggie for short, and she was named after the song "Sugar Magnolia". She's passed away now.... makes me sad whenever I hear that song... reminds me of sweet little Magger's....

We named Palmer that because he came from Palmer, Alaska. Still trying to decide on a registered name.

Came up with Generals' name one day while watching a rerun of Dukes of Hazard. So he was named after the car, General Lee.

I named my boxer Sly after Stallone. And I am sure you all know that he played a Boxer in the Rocky movies.

For his RAZOR sharp puppy teeth. I think if I get another boxer ....his name will be Dagger....
