Why so scared????

Nina is only 13 weks and as cute as a button!!!why then do people cross the street when they see her?YES ...Nina does want to give EVERY person that walks by her a boxer wet kiss ....but i have trained her to sit still untill I say KISS time!!!
Why then are people so afraid?
To be honest i find it kind of SAD ...they are missing out on the greatest LOVE there is....a dogs love is unmesurable!!Just curious if any of you experience this?

Can't say that I have ever. My Kirra is only 11 weeks and everyone wants to see her. When my Dakota was here, no one crossed the street away from her - she in fact was boxer stocked several times Lots of people used to ask what kind of dog she was and then would say she is beautiful. Part of your problem may be because of location...and the PB Ban issue. How unfortunate for you and Nina to have experience this - big hug to Nina.

Yes, it's happened to us with Grunt, but not at such a young age. We actually didn't start taking him for walks in public places until he was done with all his shots. It wasn't until he was much older and bigger, like 8 or 9 months that we started to encounter people who would cross the street when they saw us coming or turn and walk away quickly. How could anyone be scared of your little baby girl?? Just don't understand it!! Yes, it is sad. Grunt sends a mooshy kiss to Nina, to make up a little for those silly people!

My neighbor was absolutely terrified of Markus when he was only 8 weeks old. As he be was cute! I couldn't understand :(

Bhoj has many people afraid to approach him here in, but most think he is a bulldog and see his gentle leader...don't know if this helps, but once i explain he is a boxer they tends to open and love his friendliness.

I haven't had any such experience. Whenever I take Indy and/or Ava for walks, the kids in the neighborhood love them. I took them for short walks as puppies. The kids would always come out to the street to pet them.

However, some people do mistake them for Pit Bulls, and some have a fear of dogs. Don't let it bother you.

I did take Indy to a local stock car track that allows you to bring in dogs on a leash. Some kids wanted to see Indy, but his father wouldn't let them. He came back later to explain why. I told him I understood, and felt that he did the responsible thing. I would never encourage small children to approach a strange dog.

Many other children did stop by for a visit and Indy had a great time with them. I knew Indy was trustworthy, but I understood that others were not being unreasonable to have their doubts.

you know what, My vet and I had a discussion about this very thing because lots of people wont let her nea them or their dogs. And the "thug kids" who see me with her comment on how nice of a dog she is. Weve assumed its because they are sadly mistaking her for a pitbull (i have absolutely nothing against pitbulls though.. i love them)

Dont feel bad. Before getting our fur baby Rocky I was DEATHLY scared of animals...all kinds. I loved to look at them but could never get close or think of petting them. Hubby wanted a boxer so bad so we got a boxer pup and now I dont know how I could of ever thought they were "scary looking". It just takes some people time to get real. It took me 27 years. . God what a waste of 27 years without a boxer in my life. I really dont know where my fear came from but so glad it is gone!!!!! Oh yeah...one other thing we were talking to the owner of our favorite dog barkery and somehow it came up that I was scared of animals and he said he also had a fear of dogs he overcame when he met his now wife and she had a dog. Now they own a barkery!
