Most people think that Avra is male,i suppose it's due to she is huge.Once a man said..ohh what a big,gorgeous boy and when i told him that she is girl,he said..sorry,is she pregnant? :rolleyes:

I used to have my son all dressed in blue and people would ask me if he was a girl and my daughter would be in pink and people would think she was a boy - so go figure!

My daughter can be wearing a dress and she has earrings, but people still ask how old my little boy is...talk about getting pissed off. I used to not care because she didn't have any hair, but now that shes getting older, it's really annoying. For that reason, i am so cautious when i refer to a kid/dog/cat/whatever by a specific gender.

Why cant people just say, oh, what a cute baby, or how old is your baby, or how old is your dog, or COOL DOG!??

When I was growing up, we had two female boxers (at different times) - I had one cousin who just never could remember to call her "she" - he finally got it about the time we lost our second girl. Then we got a male - now he keeps calling the male "she"! I just laugh it off! I did have a foster once who was on the big side for a female and just not very feminine looking (or acting!), so I tried the pink collar thing, too. Sometimes it worked, but sometimes it didn't! My Dallas is small and very wimpy, so a lot of people think he's a female if they don't look below.

I was with a friend who learned the lesson about pregnancy/due dates. We were shopping and ran into a woman my friend used to work with - the woman was pregnant at the time that my friend left that job (within a few months), so she asked her "Oh, when is the baby due?" Well you just imagine her embarrassment when she was told the the baby was born 6 weeks prior! She felt so horrible!

I feel the same way you do spyro! I have a lab/boxer/dalmation/who knows mixed puppy and she wears a purple collar halter and has a purple leash. Always people say oh he's so cute, and I say "she" and STILL they say how old is he? Like I don't really know it but my dog IS a boy! I don't think Sandy cares really but it's annoying to me.

When i met my husband, he had a male husky. His dog had a purple collar and leash and i couldnt figure it out. One night i was making fun of it, and he said he thought it was blue. Come to find out, my husband is colorblind, so guess who picks out the collar/leash combos now! ME!

I think if someone has a male dog then they always refer to dogs as a he or if they have a female they say she. People get it wrong for both Finn & Nessa all the time, even though Nessa wears a purple collar with daisies on it and Finn has a navy collar. I also make the mistake all the time with other people’s dogs, I usually ask people their dogs name in the hope that I will be able to tell what sex from the name but some names could be either male or female so that doesn’t help either I wouldn't worry about it too much she looks like a very cute girl to me
