We have been through our share of dogs in the last few years. We've acted as a little foster home. I'd rescue one from a shelter, train it and then something wouldn't quite fit with our family and I'd give them to a better home (i.e. a husky mix that went to a retired couple that owned 5 acres vs our boxy little townhome at the time). The only one to stay was our fat, lazy, cuddly little Sadie who didn't do much. So, when we got pregnant with our second I knew our new baby needed his own puppy (Sadie is my oldest son's dog and we got her 2 motnhs before he was born). I just knew it was better if the baby and the puppy grew up together.
So, I did some research on a breed that would fit us, we wanted a medium size, shorter hair, faimly loving puppy. That led me to the boxer. I did a ton of research to make sure I knew what I was getting myself into. I found a breeder that I connected with personally and it was her bitch's first litter. She lives about 5 hours away from us and in my very pregnant state I was not allowed to drive that far from my hospital so I browsed pictures, talked to the breeder about what we were looking for and she sent me the pics of the two females (dh isn't fond of males, he's had bad experiences in the past). Justice, or Arrow as they called her, had a perfect white arrow going up the back of her head. 4 weeks old, she was so sweet it was love at first sight. I could hardly wait that whole month (waiting for a baby and a puppy all at the same time is really hard!)
The day we picked her up we met the breeder and her mentor at the airport (half way between us) and 6 days after I had Ty (2nd skin baby). I went up to the back of the car and took her out (she was shivering so I tucked her into my jacket and she nuzzled right up to me). At this time the breeder mentions that she has started showing the same spunk of her mother, which at the time didn't really sink in, but rings so loud anytime Justice runs rampid through the house. I love her dearly but next time I'd like the puppy to pick us, in person
