Why did you pick him/her?

We didnt choose TUG she picked us. When we went to visit the breeder we had discussed not making any snap decisions and if the right puppy wasnt there we would wait for another litter. Well, throw all that conversation out! We knelt down and here came this sweet little girl over to us with a little strip of white up her face and a speck of white on the back of her neck. Hubby picked her up and she instantly snuggled into his neck. That was it! She won hubby over. The second I saw her I wanted her with her sweet little face. I just had to make sure hubby was totally won over. To this day she wins him over every day! Shes quite smooth with men. Good thing she gets fixed soon!

JixyPup

Jixer came from an accidental breeder. The owner of the mother was a friend of ours and her neighbor had a male. The male jumped the fence to "introduce" himself and a few months later there was a litter of 10 pure-bred boxers. When we went to see the pups and pick ours at only 2 weeks, we thought that Jixer was from a previous litter, he was huge! So we fell in love with the little fatso. At 4 1/2 weeks the breeder asked us to come and take our monster home. He was stealing his mom's dog food. Jixer was about 3 1/2 pounds bigger than all of his litter! He's 8 months and growing like a week still to this day. We love the big guy.

Our First rescue Frasier, our boxer/pit was actually chosen for us by the director of Mid Michigan Boxer Rescue. It was a great match. He loved us and we have loved him from the very beginning.

Chipper are second rescue was a foster dog at first. He came in full of mange. We took care of him and made him well. When the time came to put him up for adoption, we knew we couldn't let him go.

Xena was a gift from my father just before he passed away... he purchased 2 boxer puppies for my mother and I as valentines gifts! He died, suddenly and unexpectantly (massive heart attack), on Jan.25/97. Mom gets a call from a breeder wanting to speak with dad. She told him he had passed away...he told her that he purchased 2 puppies and they were ready to be picked up on Valentines day!! Xena was my last gift from my Dad, and it comforts to think that Dad brought these puppies into our lives to help us with our grief...like he whispered to them to take care of mom and me. :)
Spirit was the lil guy behind the other pups..getting trampled on in their excitement, but he perservered and scrambled up my leg and into my lap, while the others had moved on to someone else! He picked me and I took him! :D
This is not boxer related, but it is related to how a decision was made to choose a pup! My bro just purchased another Rottweiller puppy. When he and his wife went to see the litter they were chatting with the breeder. This little puppy comes over to my brother with a credit card in her mouth...she stole from my SIL purse!!! That was all it took for my brother to say...she's coming home with me and in no time we should have mommy's credit card problem fixed up!! :D

bf picked her

Or did he? When we went to the breeder we saw 7 adorable little puppies. I played with each one while bf met the parents and observed the puppy's behavior. He then pointed at Laila and said that was the one we were getting because she was the best behaved. :D

Little did he know how much she would love tormenting our 2 cats!

how we chose Bella

We actually didn't choose Bella, she chose my 20 month old daughter! When we went to the breeder's house, when we walked into the room where the 7 puppies were, Bella darted out and went straight to Mallory (my daughter) and wagged her little nub. She stayed at her feet the whole time. Needless to say, our hearts were sold right then.

Nothing was cuter than seeing all the pups bouncing around in the pen together, I wanted them all! Herkie stood out because he had much attitude, already rough housing with the other pups, a little brawler he was! I also wanted him because he was the only one that color. His sibs were all a darker fawn color, and one brindle, which the breeder had decided to keep for himself! But I loved the color of his coat and his eyes matched his coat! And when he fell asleep in my arms, that was all she wrote.

My daughter and I went to visit 10 addorable Boxer pups nov. 4th. The puppies were only 15 days old. Normally they dont let prospective owners visit until the pups are 3-4 wks old. I explained that my work scheduale was hectic at the time due to a co-worker quiting and having to work all the time. the breeder was nice enough to let us come visit anyways. we amazingly got 1st pick from a recomended breeder of 17 yrs. our method that my daughter used 1 other time was to let the pup pick us.(since we wanted a male) the breeder put the 4 males out, I kept quiet (but the one I wanted was on the other side of the other 3) to let my daughter pick. the one in the way back (the one I wanted) crawled over his brothers and layed his head on my daughters hand. that was it he was ours. He just happened to be the biggest and was to be our baby. We had to wait until he was 8 wks old to take him home. I think it was the longest wait of my life other than wating to see my other pride and joy (my daughter 19yrs old in jan 05) Who BTW is in college right now to be a vet tech, then maybe onto vet school.

Great thread!

Well, after a year of talking to this breeder, Lael's litter was finally born. There were only three of them: one male, two females. All brindle, none real flashy. The little boy had already been picked. So the way it worked out, we had "first pick" between the two females.

It was hard!! One (who looked just like her mama) was a reddish brindle, very little white markings at all. She was in good health, and was such a cuddler! But she seemed to be behind the others in her motor skills, and wasn't able to do the things they could do (like crawl out of the whelping box). ;) She was easily discouraged by it, and started to shy away from the other dogs. She went home with a good mom to take good care of her.

Lael, on the other hand, was a chunk! From the moment she was born, she latched on to her mama and ate and ate and ate. She was so fat, and looked almost completely black. She had the most white marking than the others, including the sweetest straight thin line between her eyes down to her pink nose. She was super sweet. She was strong, attentive, smart, and loving. The breeder advised us that she may be stronger willed, but she would be worth it.

She is more than worth it, and I cannot imagine my life without my wiggle moo. lovicon Here's a picture of my baby when we brought her home.

Sasha was the last pup left when we responded to the ad in the classifieds (byb, but we knew no better)...She was 3 days shy of 6 weeks, but hubby was so excited we drove 2 hours to pick her up right then. She was white, tiny and adorable amongst 9 chaotic puppies outside. She slept in hubby's lap the whole way home and has been his dog ever since.
Telmar was the dog i had begged for for almost a year since we got Sasha. I often would look online at rescue sites and see who/what was available and he always said 'its not the right time'. One morning he said...'go look and see who is on Rockin p Rescue website and i found Telmar. I immediately called and did the paperwork online and we were SO blessed and fortunate to get him a week later. He is a mama's boy!
Getting boxers is the one of the best decisions i have ever made and am so blessed to have known this love and joy!
Mine are currently asleep with hubby in the bed!
