Only Male In The Litter

When we decided to get a Boxer puppy we wanted a male for sure and were hoping for a fawn. But as fate would have it the only Male in the litter was a brindle, our Jag.

We fell in love with him instantly and we were fortunate enough to have the opportunity of being there when he was born (what a wonderful experience). So there was no question of which pup was to be ours.

As it turns out his temperment (very laid back for a Boxer) is perfect for our family along with his crazy clowning around. We enjoy him soo much it is truly like we adopted another child, he fits in so perfectly.

This is our first Boxer and I believe this breed will be in our lives for years and years to come. We love our Jaggers.

Super Boo

Completely Boxer Crazy
......'cause they were the cutest :D

No, really we chose Boo because she was the only puppy who left the litter and went off by herself to climb this HUGE slope in the breeder's yard. She is still wandering off by herself and refuses to listen to us  So much for our ability to choose.

Skye was chosen by Boo and I think she regrets it to this day. He makes her crazy. She gets to (lucky her) play the big buffalo taken down by the mountain lion everytime we go for a walk. She is covered in scabs from his pouncing. But she LOVES him lovicon and is obsessed with his welfare.

I went through Rescue to get Boru. Filled out the application, e-mailed with the rescue lady to set up the home visit. She brought three dogs that she thought would be a good match. The other two dogs were very nice, but Boru was the most loving of the group. He went from person to person to be sure nobody felt left out. Then we sat down for cake and cookies (people) and Frosty Paws (for the dogs). After eating, Boru laid on the floor with a big Boxer sigh. I couldn't sign the papers fast enough, fell totally in love with him the first time I met him. lovicon

pick o' the litter

I didn't get to pick. My youngest skinkid (9 yr) got to see the pups <12 hrs. after birth. She told my SIL (who owned the bitch) that "this is my puppy". We had no intentions of getting a pup, let alone one as big as a boxer. I didn't even get to see them until they were almost 3 weeks, but my daughter had seen them almost every other day! My SIL said that the sire's owner got had first dibs on 3 (yes, 3!) of the 9 pups from the litter, and 3 other people had dibs also, but she would try. Jake didn't get quite as big as his other brothers before they chose and he was a "leftover". After much whining and big sad eyes, (from from me), Jake came home as a surprise christmas present for the skinkids. Now he snuggles mostly with me and dh, and sleeps in our bed. My skinkids say we stole their christmas present!

The smaller one of the bunch!

We finally went to, what I called, "just look" at boxer puppies. I really wanted one and I had been hounding my BF for about 5 months. So I found a breeder about an hour and a half away and we went and checked them out. I really liked this chubby fawn male, but my BF liked the smaller looking one with a black mask. Well, we left without getting one, and I was so upset! But early that morning my BF woke me up and told me we would go and get one that afternoon. So I was so excited, I couldn't sleep. So we went back to the breeder, and the fawn male with the black mask came running up to my BF. It was love. So naturally we chose the small fawn male with the black mask and named him Samson. Well, he is almost 2 now and he isn't small anymore, weighing in at 85 lbs! I love him to pieces! I couldn't ask for a better dog.

Now I am hounding my BF for the second one :)! I really want a dark brindle female with long white socks!

Well

I chose Gregory because he was the most unique of the bunch (the best markings too). He has a beautiful white flash on his face and perfect socks. He was originally called cow because at birth he looked just like a cow...what a face!! Well, I just had to have him. He was cute and I just loved him to death...still do!

Makena'sMom

Boxer Buddy
Makena's parents are both brindles and had both been bred once previously and had only produced brindle babies, so I was pretty sure that I was going to get a little brindle girl even though I wanted a fawn. I kept asking Makena's Mom to produce a little fawn girl. Then the night she was born, out came this cute little fawn girl. The only fawn in the whole bunch. We always tell her that she was made just for us :)

hubby's choice

Hubby wanted a flashy fawn male and the puppy was supposed to be "his" puppy. We were at the breeder's the day the puppies were born and, out of nine puppies, only two were males. Brutus was the more flashy of the two, so hubby picked him. Of course now, Brutus is a big time momma's boy. We're waiting on a new litter of puppies in march. This time, I want a brindle girl. She'll probably end up being daddy's girl since Brutus is so attached to me.

LoganLVR

Boxer Buddy
With our first boxer, Logan, I got to pick her out as it was my birthday. And, I thought she was the best one in the litter - actually, the breeder said she was her favorite too. She had a great temperment and I fell instantly in love. Logan let me hold her and hold her. There was actually another family supposed to come and look at her that day, and we came by at the last second. The breeder said she could tell Logan was supposed to be ours, and luckily, although we felt a little bad, she told the other family she was already taken. My husband didn't like her markings at first - now he admits he doesn't know what he was thinking! And what do you know, she is daddy's little girl.

With our second boxer, Memphis, it was my husband's turn to pick him out. We had originally went to look at a little that had just been born. None of them stuck out. The breeder happened to show us an older litter, and there was a male fawn who was runny all over and would run over to be big male dogs and bark at them through the fence. My husband fell for him right away. Memphis was never afraid of anything, but happened to become quite attached to mommy!

Stella was a complete accident in my aquiring her. A friend and his wife had come to visit during Easter holidays in '98. My friend decided he wanted to get a present for his wife, but in reality Stella was for him. We wee at the local mall and wandered in a pe store and there was Stell with her two brothers. Normally I would have never shopped in a pet store, but I wasn't the one shopping. My friend picked out this little fawn girl, instead of her mostly white brothers and we went back home with the new pup. Once we were there his wife was absolutely not having it,and was suggesting he bring her back. We had rode to the mall in his vehicle and on the way back I held Stella who was about 7 weeks or so, and I was hooked. It didn't take much for me to volunteer to take this pup after the disgruntled wife so strongly objected, and of all the dogs I have ever had she has far and away been the most special to me.

Beau was Stella's first to be born in a litter of nine, and it was pretty much decided right then and there, that he was staying with me. When I saw that half white, half black mask he looked so cute that before all the rest of the pups were even born I had already decided for the most part who was staying with us.

I have several friends who give me a strange look or tone when I speak of my dogs, and I just think to myself how unfortunate for you that you don't know the joy of having Boxers in the family.
