We live in Western WA state, and our breeder is up in Ontario, Canada. We couldn't exactly drive up to pick out a puppy, so we had to rely on the breeder to pick the right pup for us. She really screened us so she could pick a puppy with the right temperement/energy level for us. At first, she was going to send us a female, but then changed her mind and chose the male. He is the sweetest, most athletic dog I've ever owned, and we couldn't be happier. :D:

My boyfriend and I did something that most do not - we got our boxer baby from a pet store. When we decided to get a boxer, we began looking at different breeders, and checking out some places. One day, just messing around, we visited one of our local pet stores to see their puppies. They actually had a boxer! (This, I have found, is rare in our area). She was very cute, and definitely lovable! We loved on her for about an hour when my boyfriend and I both got the itch to take her home right then. He and I had intended on a boy, so we took a chance and asked the puppy nurse Natalie if she could tell us what breeder she got the female from. It turns out that the breeder was a close friend, and she took the female as a favor to her, and promised to call and ask if there were any males left from the litter. She called us the next morning... one left, male. She had the breeder bring him from several hours away to the store so we could meet, and it was love at first lick! Amazingly, he was exactly what we had been looking for in size, temperament and markings. As soon as he checked out with the vet, we took him home as our 8 week old, and he's now 15 weeks. Our first baby, and we couldn't be prouder!

The grooming place I take my cockers to had a sign up in front boxer pups for sale. Phillip is a real great guy and I know he'd never have any byb pups for sale in his shop. Mostly he has goats, rabbits, rats, mice, and ferrets. However, DH saw the sign and we went together to look, HA you know how that goes. There were two boxer pups and DH picked them both up and loving on them. We are standing there trying to decide which one we were going to take home. We just could decide so we decided we were going to get them both. We went to Philip to tell him we want both of them. He then said that the one was sold, whew that made our decision much easier! Phillip told us there were like 8 in the litter. The breeder had homes for all the males, but not the two females. And we have been happy with Jasmine ever since.

Three days later we rescued Hailey (boxer mix). She was more than a year old and has been a great addition. She's been really good for Jasmine too.

Boxer Buddy
When we decided to get our first big dog, we went to look at a Boxer litter. My husband decided that the first puppy that touched us would be ours (very scientific, huh?) Well, 10 puppies come rocketing down the driveway, and the first one to us threw himself at my husband and peed all over his shoes! Yup, he was ours. And yup, we had to deal with submissive wetting with Gunther.

When I went to look at Snap, she was at the vet's, recuperating from a broken leg. I just went to look (she's been turned into rescue), and she sat quietly in her cage, with a bright pink cast on her leg, and just looked me in the eye. Very soft, but very intent. Right then, she was mine.

I train and compete in obedience and agility, where a lot of people do very involved puppy testing. I've never done that (my current Pug was sent to me by the breeder, sight unseen), but every dog I've had has been the perfect dog for me.

I chose Paisley because when I went to JUST see her litter.. she fell asleep in my lap. It tore at me over the next couple of days about getting a puppy(b/c I hadn't planned to get one then) so I had kept in contact with the breeder about getting a puppy. They had two white females to be placed. So when we went to 'pick' our new baby, I had to choose between to gorgeous white babies.. but I had already chosen because she'd fallen asleep in my lap and looked so angelic in doing so, I chose my darling Paisley! There's a pic in my album of her asleep in my lap(the deciding factor!) the night we went to see her litter!

He wasn't a puppy when I got Charlie Paper, but I had gone to the shelter looking for puppies when I found him. I'd looked on the San Diego Humane Society website & it said they had boxer or boxer mix puppies there. I wanted a boxer, but there was no way I could afford to get one from a breeder. I'd made up my mind to comb through the shelters til I found one or go through a rescue. I remember walking into kennel 8 and there was Charlie Paper, in the 3rd kennel from the door. He was so excited to see us (me, my Mom, & my boyfriend at the time) that I crouched down next to his gate and talked to him. He only got more and more wiggly the more I talked to him. When we visited with him, he was everything I wanted in a dog. I immediatly fell in love with him. I had to wait a week before the actual adoption took place, but I know he was meant to be mine. I absolutly adore that silly dog, who is currently lying behind my chair snoozing!

I got Max from a couple who wanted a bulldog instead, when I first saw him I knew that he did not have a happy home. He was so reserved but well behaved and his appearance was striking. So that is our story.

Gift from Sis

I didnt choose Boomer, my sister did. She decided to buy my parents and me, more me than anyone, a boxer for christmas. She went on a site where breeders posted puppies for sale. Out of all those puppies she found Boomer. With his soulful eyes and beautiful white markings she thought he was great. She was in contact with the breeder for a month and a half before Boomer was ever sent to us. There were 4 other people that wanted to buy him but she felt as though he would get a great home with my sister. He made the journey from Iowa to Massachusetts on a stormy day!

When I came home Christmas eve, there he was. I began to cry, I've wanted a dog my whole life and hoped one day I'd have a boxer. I dropped to my knees and called him, he came running over and licked my face. He slept in my lap all night. I didnt sleep at all, I thought I should watch over him because he might need me during the night. I was so tired on christmas day from no sleep!!! It was amazing :) I dont remeber life without him, he's my shadow.

Sis did a great job picking out a great lil' boxer

show prospects.. (sorry its long)

When we were deciding on our 2 babies, it wasn't really completely up to us.. since we were hoping to get a show-prospect there were obvious "characteristics" that we and our breeder were looking for. (flash, which we actually wanted, and of course an out-going personality)

Cassius- We had a fairly easy time picking Cassius. There was another couple who also wanted a boy, and the family who owned the dam, was also planning on keeping a pet boy. Everyone was drawn to the 2 flashy boys... We met Cassius at 4wks, instantly we knew we had to have him. He was such a confident little boy... he commanded attention. His conformation for a little 4wk pup was fantastic.. Obviously we had to wait to make sure he was going to be the "pick", as our breeder and her breeder friends were going to make the final deciscion.. and low and behold 4wks later, we were elated to find out that he was going to come home w/ us. Although we were never able to show him in conformation.. thats another story , (everyone tells us he woulda finished so quickly) we love him so much.. i don't know what we'd do w/out him. :D

Nikki- Now this was a tough one. Not being able to show Cassius, this time around, we really wanted to make sure we were going to get the best show prospect. There were 6 girls out of the litter of 8, we were immediately drawn to our Nikki-baby. BUT she wasn't the "pick"! :( We were torn. The 3 other possible show prospect girls were very good looking, and all had great personality, but Nikki really stood out. She had the darkest brindling out of all the puppies there, she was mischievous, and BOY the attitude on this little spitfire! (she was the 2nd smallest, after the runt.. but she didn't know it) Again, relying on our breeder and her friends, we hoped that she would "turn out" to be the pick, as the weeks wore on.. It took until week 7, where we just decided that we were going to take our chances w/ Nikki, no matter what. Richard had a "feeling" about her, and i already fell in love. So probably going a bit against the decision of mentor, week 8 rolled around and we made the 9hr drive to our breeders, and took her home. :D fortunately, Nikki has grown into quite the little show-girl.. she's slowly growing more and more beautiful everyday, and our breeder agrees, no doubt. We're so happy we took her home and went w/ our gut feeling.. :D (this is actually how our mentor picked the sire to our babies.. she went w/ her gut feeling, even though everyone else thought his brother was going to be the pick... and low and behold, his brother never even finished his CH!) We hope that she follows in her sire's footsteps, and will soon start picking up points towards her Championship. Our baby girl definately keeps us on our toes.. she's a ball-buster, and a trouble maker, a show dog that loves to show, and most of all, she's mommy's little girl lovicon

and that is our story.. :)

When I was looking for my first, Rocky I couldn't find a boxer pup anywhere. Everyone I called said the pups were all gone. I stopped in a pet store (I know this is not the way to get a dog but I went in anyway) and they had a boxer pup. The clerk said he wasn't for sale because he had kennel cough and they aren't supposed to sell a sick puppy. She said I could see him anyway and if I wanted him I could come back after he was cleared by their vet. He came running out, grabbed a toy off the shelf and brought it to me to play. When I picked him up in my arms he snuggled his face to mine. I convinced the clerk that I had dealt with kennel cough before and it would be best for this pup (and all the other ones there) if he came home with me today. She agreed. The store paid all the vet bills relating to the kennel cough. Rocky is the best dog I have ever known. He changed our lives.

When the time came to get him a playmate (2 yrs later) we found a breeder even before the litter was conceived and were granted pick of the litter when the time came. Three females to chose from. We picked Lucy because she looked the most like her mother, Roxy. Roxy captured my heart the minute I saw a picture of her. An absolute beauty and about the size we were looking for. She is also very sweet. Lucy's dad is a big guy but gentle as can be (like my Rocky) and looks almost like my boy. So far at least we are very pleased with our choice.
